The fall brings a whole new set of tunes- ones that are typically a little more slowed down (think your local coffee shop after 7 PM). With that said, here's a playlist suitable for any situation you find yourself in this fall. To good music!

If you're feeling reflective or moody:

Move On- Garden City Movement

*warning: music video is sexually explicit*

Shout out @lindseyrem for making an awesome Spotify playlist that led me to this song. I listen to this when I'm doing homework or when I'm writing blog posts or anything where thinking is needed. It's relaxing & often times I just get lost in my thoughts listening to it....which I'm okay with.

I'm Into You- Chet Faker

I first saw Chet Faker at Coachella 2015 and his set was so groovy I was hooked from the start. Since then, I've fallen in love with all of his music and this song is my favorite of his. Put this on when it's raining or you're taking a day to yourself.

Welcome Home- Radical Face

A friend introduced me to this song during my sophomore year of high school, and it's always represented the nostalgia of that time period to me. Roll your windows down and listen to this on the highway on a chilly September night.

If you're reading a book & want to zone out:

I'm God- Clams Casino

This song is mostly instrumental, which makes it perfect for reading. The beat is hypnotic and for me, it inspires creativity. I often end up drawing or brainstorming article ideas listening to this!

Sweater Weather- The Neighbourhood

How could I not throw this in here? The NBHD is one of my favorite bands of all time and I'm such a fan of this "beach" vibe they've developed over the past year. But occasionally, especially in the fall, I throw it back to the I Love You. album and indulge in the classic Sweater Weather beat.

If you haven't quite woken up yet:

Snow In Newark- Ryan Hemsworth

Ryan Hemsworth's music is both dreamy and haunting. This song, in particular, is a nice bridge between the shrill sound of your alarm and the "shower music" playlist you'll inevitably blast as you get ready for the day.

Plans- Oh Wonder

If you're looking for any sort of aesthetic background music for your life- this song is it. It reminds me of montages of sunsets and soft ocean waves.

If you're already jazzed for the day:

All I Want (Manila Killa Remix) - Dawn Golden

Sometimes, even if I've already had my 3-4 cups of coffee in the morning, I still have to get my body moving to wake up fully. This song is perfect if you're just going to fit in some morning jumping jacks or situps to get your blood pumping.

Jealou$y- The Neighbourhood (Ft. Casey Veggies and 100s)

Surprise! Another song from The NBHD. This was my summer track in 2014 and it still fits into my fall playlists. The jazziness combined with the rap-like lyrics make your body move. I personally prefer the song without the extra verses but both versions are music to my ears.

Mess Is Mine- Vance Joy

This is the type of song that you blast while you're cleaning or tidying your apartment, while you're having a morning dance party with your roommate, or while you're singing loudly in your car to yourself hoping that the person next to you at the red light doesn't vine you.

If you're stressed about your mile-long to-do list:

Next Year (RAC Remix)- Two Door Cinema Club

Two research papers, 250 pages of reading, four article deadlines, and stress, stress, stress. Flip this on and feel a wave of relaxation as you take a break from your never-ending list of things to complete and just let your mind rest. "Clear Mind, Can't Lose".

2faded- RVRB & Cameron Mitchell

I'm a night-studier, so between the hours of 6 PM-2 AM, this song is my jam. When I need to give my hands a rest from typing and my eyes a break from reading, I lay my head down on my neck rest or take a seat on my yoga mat on the floor and hit play. This is my "tunnel song" & will be forever. (I hope you all catch that Perks of Being a Wallflower reference)

If you want to dance:

Dollar Bill- Hippo Campus

If you're a morning person and you hop out of bed ready to take on the day, this is the song for you! It's got a little kick to it when the chorus hits and it's one of those songs you can't help but bop your head to.

Bonus: This is the best feel-good song on this whole list.

Reforget- Lauv

This is a great song to put on in the background of a small party or a girl's night (everybody needs moisturizing face masks in the fall)! I stumbled upon this song completely on accident and I'm SO glad that I did because it never gets old! Throw your hands up and dance around your living room y'all.

The gif below is a pretty great demonstration of how my friends and I get down when this is on.

Aminals- Baths

No, that's not spelled incorrectly– Baths is just creative. This track has the most ethereal vibe to it, and I fell in love the moment I heard it. I had a hard time placing this in a category, so if you don't find yourself dancing, I wouldn't be surprised. The song automatically puts me in a good mood and reminds me of the excitement I feel when the weather finally cools down, so give it a chance!

The Wolf- Mumford & Sons

Mumford & Sons ALWAYS reminds me of fall because it's when I first fell in love with them years ago (I'm counting the seconds until their concert on the 5th)! Out of all of their music, new and old, The Wolf is the one that most reminds me of fall. On super busy days I blast this through my earphones because it's great motivation and any time the chorus hits, I want to drop everything I'm doing and play my air guitar and dance with strangers.

Side note: totally diggin' this music video.

There you have it, a comprehensive playlist for every situation you'll find yourself in this fall! I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say fall is the best time of the year. I know we all get into our rhythms of classes, internships, and jobs, but fall playlists break up our day-to-day activities and can be super rejuvenating. Got to love the power of music.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
