The Perfect Love

While our relationships and friendships thrive on God's foundation, we will still be imperfect, but it can still be passionate and incredible in many ways.

The Perfect Love

Please do not let the header and cover photo of this article fool you. I will not be discussing "the perfect love" that comes from humans, but of the One who is much greater than us, even as a whole. However, I will mention the love that humans have in general that we know of, and how it will never compare to this perfect love that is difficult for humans to understand.

"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies." - Aristotle.

First off, I would like to mention that, as humans, we strive to find contentment and happiness through other humans, material things and through our own individual feelings. We long for love. However, we long for this love that is set in our minds as the perfect love when we find the one. And this love is so different and individual for every human being. But, what we often neglect is the realization of the brokenness of humanity. As a whole, we are a broken people because we sin and we have flaws. Yet, the love that we have for a friend or a significant other can be strong, incredible, messy, complicated and in every way, passionate. However, this love that humans have is all together changeable and imperfect.

“Though we are incomplete, God loves us completely. Though we are imperfect, He loves us perfectly. Though we may feel lost and without compass, God's love encompasses us completely...He loves every one of us, even those who are flawed, rejected, awkward, sorrowful or broken.” - Dieter F. Uchtdorf

This imperfect love that humans have is no comparison to God's perfect and most authentic love for us and all of His creations. You see, God's love doesn't require changes to improve or become more than what He is, because God is completely perfect in all that He is. Therefore, His love for us should be the most overwhelming feeling that we have. Instead of constantly running and searching for something more, we should really be running toward our Author. We should be willing to sacrifice anything for this Love, just as Christ did for us. For instance, "but God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). This perfect sacrifice should be an essential part of our following and faith in the Lord. Because as believers, we were created to live fully for the Lord. Our faith is connected to our walk with the Lord and allows us to recognize God's perfect plan for humans.

This perfectly pure love that God has for us is the foundation of all relationships, friendships and purpose for our lives. I hope that this article will impact the way others think about looking for perfect love, as it only exists with and through the Lord. While our relationships and friendships thrive on God's foundation, we will still be imperfect, but it can still be passionate and incredible in many ways.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
