The Perfect Day Part 6: Rachel and Carl

Recap: When we last left Kolby and Carl, Kolby wanted answers about Rachel. Who was she? Kolby was not pleased with Carl. Carl came clean and told Kolby the truth about his relationship with this other woman. He went back to let her know she was an old friend he had not seen and one thing led to another and it got romantic but that it was over. In the meantime, Rachel was sulking in her hotel when she got the call to leave town from Kolby. Now on to Part 6. Here is where we learn more about Rachel and Carl.

Rachel Smith stood in her office looking at the same page in her file. It was no use she just could not keep her mind on her work. Since getting back to Chicago Rachel could not stop thinking about Carl.

Why do I put myself in this situation?

Carl made his choice.

As terrible as it may have been.

She shrugged her shoulders. Okay I need to concentrate. Enough of that.

Who am I kidding?

Damn you Carl!

Suddenly she began to go back to the past. Rachel thought about the night Carl kissed her.

He glared into her eyes.

Then he kissed her slowly and so passionately while stroking her long hair.

It had been a very steamy relationship from the start.

Carl Jameson had always been in her heart. However, things never worked out between them since they went to different colleges. Still Rachel never forgot about him. Carl always supported Rachel. Once they began working together they were always on the same page when it came to the cases they litigated together. It was very easy for them to come together.

Also their undeniable chemistry was like those you see in epic romantic movies.

I know it sounded too good to be true, but both Carl and Rachel looked like they had come out of one of those so addicting romance books.

But it was all a dream. Rachel realized it the moment she went out to look for him in New

York.

She had read all the papers of the wedding that never happened. For some reason Rachel thought Carl had gotten cold feet because of her.

How could I have been so stupid?

Yeah, he stopped the wedding for you.

Rachel couldn’t stop crying.

Why am I even doing this now?

She decided to get back to her work.

Back in New York Carl was in his office and he was having thoughts about Rachel.

I just can’t get Rachel of my mind.

What is going on with me?

Just seeing her brought those od feelings back.

Carl thought about the first time he saw her in Chicago after not seeing her for so long after she took of for college.

Things had changed. Rachel was lovely, but it wasn’t just her outside beauty that he loved it was the kindness within her. She was somebody he could always talk too. Their natural chemistry was there from the start.

He recalled the first time they kissed. It seemed to have lasted for hours. As a matter of fact there was the day he got sick and she came to make sure he was okay.

Rachel made sure to drop off some soup and kept him informed of all that was going on at work.

Carl never wanted it to end with her.

But he made a choice.

Well I can’t have got back now.

Still the passion he had for her was there.

Rachel, why was I such a fool.

Carl was so caught up in his own thoughts he did not notice James coming in the door.

“My, my Carl, are you thinking about her?”

Carl looked right at James.

“What do you want James?”

“Now, now, there is no need to take such a tone.”

James gave Carl a smirk.

“Look James, I do not have time for your little games!”

“Whoa, calm down Carl!”

“Please see yourself out!”

“Alright I am leaving, but you know that I am right.”

“Right about what?”

“Rachel!”

Then James walked out the door.

Back in Chicago Rachel was about to go out the door when her cell phone rang.

Gosh I hope it isn’t Kolby.

She glanced at her phone and did not recognize the number.

Damn not this again.

Lord give me strength.

“Hello, this is Rachel Smith.”

“Ah, ah hey Rachel.”

Rachel could not believe her ears.

“Carl? Is that you?” Rachel asked.

“Yes, it’s me and we need to talk.”

Tune in Next week for Part 7 and see what happens next...

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour
StableDiffusion

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
