There is no more argument. Do not try to tell him Tom Brady is not The GOAT. Do not tell me the Patriots are not the greatest franchise in NFL history. Do not try to tell me that Boston is not home to the City of Champions. Seven Super Bowl Appearances. Five Super Bowl Championships.
All in one decade, too.
This Patriots franchise is like no other in sports history. Led by the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, they have accomplished feats that many organizations in the NFL have yet to do-- the Pats have done this more than once.
The world watched the Pats come back from losing 28-3 in the 3rd quarter. Down by 25 points? No problem!
It’s just as bad as the Warriors blowing a 3-1 lead in 2016 NBA Finals... and we can all admit that was pretty bad. But seriously who does this? Who can bring a team back from such a deficit? Tom Brady and the Brady Bunch can. Bill and the greatest coaching staff in the league can.
I previously said that every Super Bowl win feels like the very first time and trust me, it does. I have witnessed four previous Super Bowl victories and this one still feels just as good as the first time. Everyone in New England is just as excited about this Super Bowl victory as they were with the last one-- and the one before that and the one before that and the one before that.
This ring is just as important as the rest of them. You won’t see a lack of attendance at the parade. You won’t see a low number of Super Bowl Champion merchandise being sold. And I can guarantee that New Englanders will not let you hear the end of this.
We went for one more and we got it. We got one for the thumb. The Patriots were on a mission and they accomplished that mission.
This win further solidifies the Patriots’ place in history. It solidifies Belichick and Kraft's places in the Hall of Fame. It, without a doubt, solidifies Brady’s place as a Hall of Famer and the greatest to play the game.
Our job is done, for now. We celebrate this week and enjoy the moment. But do not think for a second that Brady is not going to try for one more. Five is great, but six is better. Brady has broken every record there really ever was, so why not go for the only thing the Steelers have over us? Let’s get that sixth ring, maybe even a seventh. Age is really just a number to Brady, anyway.
Oh, and for the next Steelers fan to remind me that they have six Super Bowl wins, let me just remind you that all five of our Super Bowl wins were in the SAME decade with the SAME starting quarterback, the SAME coach and the SAME franchise owner. Just in case you forgot that little fact.
Enjoy this offseason, New England and Pats fans everywhere. Enjoy that we are, in fact, the greatest football team the NFL has ever seen.
