The Pastor Who Stole Christmas

You are the real life grinch, sir.

Earlier this week, I watched a video of a pastor who decided to go to a shopping mall in Amarillo, Texas and tell the children in line to meet Santa Claus that Santa isn’t real. The man proceeded to tell the children that “Jesus Is the reason for the season,” that Jesus Christ was born in a manger 2016 years ago, in Bethlehem, that the man they are going to meet today is just a man in a suit, their parents are lying to them, and their parents are the ones who put the presents under the tree.

First, let me say that I respect this man’s religion, and I understand that he wants to spread that “Jesus is the reason for the season.” However, what I do not understand is how this man thought it was his place to take away the fun of Santa Claus from families that he doesn’t even know.

The audacity of this man is just beyond me. This man has no respect whatsoever for these families and what these parents choose to tell or to not tell their children. Like, who does this guy think he is? In the beginning of the video, the parents were just kind of brushing it off, then the man kept going and going until someone finally got involved. You could tell these parents were just at a loss of words, and the children were just so confused about why this random man was telling them something different than they have heard their entire lives.

This is why Christians have a bad reputation. It always seems like they are pushing their religion down your throat, and it always seems like someone is crossing a line. This man clearly does not know his boundaries and I really hope someone puts him in his place.

So, if I can say anything to Pastor David, it would be this:

Congratulations, sir, you got your point across, but you were also a real dick head about it and you ruined Christmas for these innocent little kids.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
