12 Things You Should Put On Your Summer Bucket List

There is so much I am going to be doing this summer, and I want you to enjoy it just as much as I will be. Here are some things that you should do or plan to do so you can make the best of your summer!

1. Go canoeing or kayaking.

Go to your nearest business that rents kayaks or canoes with some friends and spend a day on the river. I promise you won't be disappointed!

2. Go hiking.

I know, ew, exercise. But being one with nature and the fresh air is so nice. Even if you live in the city or not so close to mountains, you don't need it. Find some trails!

3. Volunteer

Go volunteer, you will feel like a million bucks, I promise. Go to your nearest homeless shelter, hospital, or even go to your neighbor's house and mow their grass. Do something for someone else. Do it with some friends, it could be fun!

4. Go camping

Grab a few friends or family members and go on a camping trip. Instead of staying in a camper, though, stay in a tent. Get the whole experience.

5. Go to a theme park or carnival.

Tap into your inner child and go ride some roller coasters, Ferris wheels, and other rides. Get that adrenaline pumping.

6. Go fishing.

I don't know about you, but fishing is when I go to my happy place. It's so peaceful to just sit there in the quiet and wait for the bite of the fish. Get your pole and go to your favorite fishing spot.

7. Have a bonfire.

Invite a bunch of friends, turn on some country music, and relax by the fire. Forget about everything for the night, and just be in the moment.

8. Have a movie marathon.

Be a couch potato for one whole day and grab some of your favorite movies. Watch them all day and night long. Don't get up unless you have to go to the bathroom or get more snacks.

9. Read a book or two.

I know during the rest of the months you don't have time to read, but this summer get those books that are collecting dust out. If you are like me, you buy books and never set away time to read them. Now is your time.

10. Go to a concert.

And again, during the rest of the year there is never time for a concert. This summer, make time for that too. You won't regret it. Plus, who doesn't love a concert?

11. Go on a road trip or just cruising.

Pack your car up and just ride on the open road. Stop at any place you want and enjoy your time. Don't have the money for that? Get in your car, roll the windows down and just cruise for an hour or two.

12. Go to a beach.

Whether it's an actual beach by the ocean, or just one by a lake or ocean. Go and enjoy the water and sand. Relax and tan.

Now I think you can do SOME of this. Why not try for all of it? Make the best of this summer and make some memories!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
