To The One Who Feels Invisible
Brandon Woelfel

Recently, I've been listening to Bethel's We Will Not Be Shaken (Live) on repeat. If you haven't heard it, I definitely recommend it. The entire album is powerful, but their song "You Don't Miss a Thing" really stood out to me.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where accomplishments and social class mean everything. It's all about who knows who and who's better at what. That being said, it's almost impossible to not feel overlooked or invisible. It's as if no one understands you. I know I've been there, but it's not true. "You Don't Miss a Thing" speaks to just that: you are noticed.

"What a mystery
That you notice me
And in a crowd of ten thousand
You don't miss a thing"

It's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that someone could actually notice me when I'm living in a world with over 7 billion more people. If you're like me, then you've wondered many times before, "Why would anyone choose me?" or "Why am I here, anyway?" Seeing people being perfect at what they do and loving it can make you feel worthless and small, but God sees you. He sees your imperfections and your potential. Only God can see every little thing in your life, nobody else, which is why it's so hard to grasp.

But isn't it amazing that Jesus sees you? Out of 10,000 people, He could notice you in an instant. You may feel neglected and invisible to the people around you, but this is a reminder that God sees you clearly. You are never overlooked.

"There's no place I can go where Your love won't find me
No place I can hide that You don't see
There's no place I can fall where Your love couldn't catch me
You see it all, You see it all
Through the eyes of love"

I had to quote the whole bridge because it is just so powerful. It hits every possible negative feeling and follows it with an answer from God. Whether you've hit rock bottom or close to it, the Lord's love will still reach you. Through the world's eyes, you and I may be nothing but a number. Through His eyes, you are worth noticing.

"When I'm misunderstood,
Your love understands me"

When I'm going through a rough part of my life, I feel like there's no one else in the entire world who could understand me. It's like I'm the only person who feels this way, and I'm facing this completely on my own. But that's just not true! The Lord understands me, and He understands you.

Hebrews 4:15 says, "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are." When Jesus walked the earth, he went through the same trials we face every day. Don't you think He felt like no one understood Him as He told everyone He was the Son of God and nobody believed Him? Or when He was the only man who wasn't like the rest of the people on Earth? Jesus was definitely singled out. When we feel this way, God understands. He's not going to dismiss your problems because they aren't "big" enough. He cares for every little thing going on in your life because He notices you. You are never neglected by the Lord. You are seen, and you are seen through the eyes of Love.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
