In today's society, there aren't many people in the media that young people can view as role models. Thankfully, there are fictional characters out there that embody what it means to be a good person. One of my favorite shows, One Tree Hill, contains female figures that are worth admiring. Each of them has something unique about them that would make them the most perfect person alive if they were morphed into one. Here they are:
Haley James Scott
Haley is an amazing character in the show for numerous reasons, but what stands out to me is her unwavering kindness. She always finds the good in people, including Nathan, Quentin, Sam, and even Dan, and helps them live up to their potential. She refuses to give up on anyone, which is a rare quality to have. Not to mention she's a great mom, teacher, and musician all at once; who else could do that?
Quinn James
Though she doesn't come into the show until later, Quinn is one of my favorite characters. What makes her stick in my mind is her undeniable strength. She survives a gunshot and later faces and defeats her attacker. She also remains strong for Clay through his mental relapses and the realization that he has a son. Being Haley's sister, it's clear that the James girls are not to be messed with.
Peyton Sawyer
Throughout the show, Peyton takes all of the ups and downs in her life and channels it into art, which is why I admire her for her creativity. Her pain from people leaving her influences her greatest art. The fact that she starts her own record label is pretty cool, too.
Brooke Davis
Perhaps the most admirable woman on the show is Brooke Davis. She greatly represents the fact that people can change. She undergoes a transformation from lost party girl to famous and powerful designer during her high school years. It's impossible not to root for her as she longs for a family and when she finally gets it, I'm just as happy for her as she is. Countless lessons can be learned for her and her demolition of the popular girl stereotype.
All of the women on this show are beautiful inside and out, intelligent, and confident, which is something young women everywhere could look up to and learn from.
