Coffee, coffee, coffee.

We all know what it's like to take college finals. Some you can breeze through, while others make you want to cry before, during and afterwards. No one, I repeat, no one enjoys taking finals. At the beginning of the semester, we're all hoping and praying that the professors don't say the dreaded words "cumulative final." It's hard enough remembering all the information for one test, let alone the entire semester. As a sophomore in college, I have now been through four semesters of finals and let me tell you, finals week brings out the crazy. However, all being in the same boat, no one will judge you for what happens throughout the week. Here are a few things that happen during finals week that college students accept as normal.

1. You can sleep anywhere and no one will judge because they wish they'd thought of it first.

2. The amount of coffee consumed is tremendous.

3. You've lost count of how many all-nighters you've pulled.

4. You see people in the library or class that you've never seen before.

5. You contemplate dropping out every five minutes, thinking, "Is it all worth it?"

6. You'll cry at the drop of a hat.

7. You've eaten Taco Bell or McDonalds every day with no shame.

8. You've got your mind on that beach trip you planned with your friends.

9. You watch Netflix instead of study because you think you have time...

10. You see people in the same clothes as the day before due to all-nighters.

11. You don't actually know what day it is...or even month.

12. You haven't seen the sun in a week.

13. You see high schoolers freaking out over finals and just laugh at them.

14. You have to start packing up your room for the summer, and it stings a little.

Knowing you won't get to see your friends the entire summer makes studying for finals hard!

15. You see high schoolers on college tours and think, "It's a trap. Don't put yourself through this!"

16. When you pass your finals, you know God has big plans for your life.

17. You can now breathe because you're on summer break!

Happy finals week and may the curve be ever in your favor!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
