The Official Johns Hopkins Fall Bucket List

Fall is a magical time on the east coast. Here's a list to help you get the most out of this incomparable season.

1. Drink unreasonable amounts of hot chocolate.

The recipes are endless: peppermint hot chocolate, salted caramel hot chocolate, chai-spiced hot chocolate, spiced pumpkin hot chocolate, and hundreds of more flavors.

2. Go apple-picking.

This is a fun activity to do with friends and family, who may or may not ridicule you for your fruit-picking skills. You can also try to make caramel apples afterwards!

3. Take a hot-air balloon ride.

There's no better way to observe the changing colors of the leaves.

4. Spend a weekend in the mountains.

The temperature is perfect during the fall for a camping trip. It's not too hot or cold, and making s'mores at night is always fun!

5. Use a pile of leaves as your trampoline.

Jump right in!

6. Start a bonfire.

This is a great bonding activity, especially since s'mores can be shared afterward!

7. Start a leaf and pinecone collection.

What better way to remember the fall than to save pieces of it?

8. Have a picnic on the quad(s).

It's never a bad idea to have a good meal with friends in the middle of a beautiful campus in the fall.

9. Go on an overnight movie marathon.

Here's a sublist of fall movies: "Good Will Hunting," "Dead Poets Society," and "Autumn in New York."

10. Go on a fall color scavenger hunt.

You can get to know the campus better and collect bits and pieces of fall at the same time!

11. Cook something with a pumpkin.

Go to Char Mar, buy a pumpkin, and create something out of it: roasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin spice bread, pumpkin bisque, pumpkin pudding, pumpkin pie, and much more.

12. Cook lots of chili with friends!

It's a great way to stay warm during cool autumn nights.

13. Go sweater shopping.

After all, it's finally sweater weather.

14. Make popcorn!

Don't forget to make different flavors, such as pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and caramel.

15. Carve pumpkins.

This is a fun activity for houses, suitemates, floormates, and roommates to do together.

16. Try the seasonal coffee at Starbucks.

It's never a bad idea to grab your friends and make fun of the ridiculously sweet and overpriced drinks!

17. Walk all around campus!

Hopkins is beautiful during all four seasons, especially in the fall. Don't forget your camera!

Although finals, midterms, and papers might stress you out, don't forget to go out and enjoy the fall. It's a gorgeous season that will make any stressed mind relaxed again.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
