What they don't tell you about working at Disney World

The Happiest Place On Earth Secrets

Ah Disney World, from the Mickey Mouse shaped food to the screaming children, what could make that place any better? But what really goes on behind the scenes that they don't want us to know? Let's jump right into the rabbit hole and look at some shocking facts about the Wonderful World of Disney.

1. You always have to smile

Yes, even on your worst days you have to smile, we can't have a face character like Cinderella walking around all day frowning because she is hot and uncomfortable. Workers are all required to smile to keep the magic alive.

2. You can't post about your job to social media

In this day and age our phones and laptops are attached to our sides constantly, but working at Disney you cant have Peter Pan pulling out his IPhone to take a picture with a child he met or someone he sees. While working for the Mouse you can't post about your day to any forms of social media, nothing about your job even in the slightest form can hit the web.

3. You can never say 'I don't know'

While the workers there love everything under the sun that involves Disney, if they don't know an answer to a patron's question you can't ever say that you don't know. If you don't know the answer to the question you have to either make something up until you can find out the answer or go and find it out right away. But when you first start working there you are given strict training so that when this comes up you will know what to say.

4. You can't break character

What does your birth certificate say? Okay, as soon as you step through those pearly singing gates, guess what, that name goes away. You automatically become the character you are playing. If someone comes up to you and asks you about your life you can't tell them because you would be breaking character.

5. Everyone picks up trash

Whether you are Cinderella or a janitor you have to pick up any trash you see. But here's the thing, you have to do it with grace and class, the preferred way that they tell you to do it is by swooping down and picking it up and throwing it away.

6. The costumes are hot, hot, hot

During the winter we all like to stay warm, but in the summer we like to shed our layers. For some of us that means shorts and a tank top. But no matter what season it is the face characters at Disney have to wear their costumes all year round. And those are fleece lined and some are flannel so you could bet that those people are burning up under all that hairspray, makeup and costumes.

7. People will try to touch you if you are a face character

We all know those people who like to touch the characters because they hit up Epcot before they hit the main park. So if you are a worker you will always have those drunks or sober rebels who will try to touch you while taking pictures.

8. You always point with two fingers

With all the different ethnicities here in the United States its not uncommon to see different people with different beliefs at Disney. But what happens when you accidentally flip someone off? To make sure this doesn't happen all workers at Disney are required to point with two fingers as to not disrespect anyone at the park.

9. The music...never...stops

From when the park opens to when it closes the music never stops. Something you will notice when you go to different sections of the park you will see that not only is the look different but the music is different, this is to make it seem more real to the park attendees that they stepped into another time period.

10. There is a secret passage under the park

Have you ever wondered why you never see the cast members up and roaming around the park? That is because they are actually under your feet in secret tunnels and passages under the park so that they can get from place to place without being stopped by crying upset children. Sadly, unless you are working at Disney you will never see it or walk through it.

I hope next time you go to Disney you think of these and realize how hard they are working for you.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
