This just in, the characters of Gossip Girl relate to us lowly outsides more than they care to admit. How, you ask? So glad you were wondering. Keep reading to find out.
1. Serena Van Der Woodsen
It's OK to have those very, very late nights with lots of dancing and hazy memories (perhaps witnessing an overdose). We all have those nights that represent the fun times in life, or even the bad ones. Enjoying life is never a crime, right? We learned from the Queen herself, fun is in a glasses garnished with an olive.
2. Serena 2.0
But perhaps those hazy nights become too much for us to handle. S would not that best right? Change does not happen over night, but if she can change then so can we. S is not the only with some bad baggage, but we can learn a thing or two from her about running away from our past, it often finds away to sneak up on us.
3. Chuck Bass
Everyone has their conceited moments. Although there is only Chuck Bass, he is not the only one who is selfish and is not afraid to show it. C just looks better at doing it. Chuck Bass is definitely alpha and can anyone even try to replace that?
4. Blair Waldorf
Cunning, stunning, and she keeps them running. The big B has no shame in her game, and we can learn a thing from her. Her only bad side is her attitude, just look at her attire. Keeping it classy with a good plate of sassy. B sure is a good model to follow when serving up a good side of revenge, which I am sure we all love to do.
5. Nate Archibald
Ah Nate. Broke and hot. We all relate to this I'm sure. Keeping things smooth may not be his strong suit, but he does pull his suits off nicely, even if there is no cash burning a hole in his back pocket.
6. Lonely Boy
Lonely Boy Dan is closer to all of us, not only with heart, but with status. We all have our outsider moments. Drowning ourselves in music and poetry, there is no shame in it. If Lonely Boy can make it into the in crowd, but still stay a humble Brooklander, than so can we.
7. Little J
They sure do Little J, you would know that best, right? We all change from time to time, for good or for bad. A haircut and some new clothes are a girls best friend when she has none, right? Little J might not be so little after all, and neither are her fans.
8. Eric Van Der Woodson
We all have rough times, just like Eric. Throughout our lives we learn who means the most and that we need to accept ourselves before anyone else can. Eric does this best, staying true to himself while he does it.
9. Vanessa
An outsider, to the outsiders, to the in crowd. Although Vanessa is lower on the East Side's status spectrum than Lonely Boy, she wears it with pride. We all may not fit in from time to time, but staying true to ourselves is what counts the most. Thanks V, for showing us that money is not everything, even if it is nice to have.
10. Vanessa and Lonely Boy
Although they are no S and B, Lonely Boy and V are still a friendship we can relate to, especially as outsides to the Upper East Siders. Sticking by someone through everything, and having that confidant is a strong relationship to have and strive for, especially if you have fun while doing it.
11. Blair and Serena
For every S there is a B, and vise versa. A girls best friend is one that stays by you through every boy, scandal, and hazy night. We all have that friend, and if you do not, then you should really find one. B and S definitely stay on our radar, but they stay together, and that is what matters.
12. Chuck and Blair
And the best for last.
Endless fights, sleepless nights, and they both have means bites. The power duo of the Upper East Side is everyone's dream or, if you are lucky, reality. C and B make it work, and they do it with style. Everyone has their problems, even us lowly outsides, but we are all capable of love, especially if these two are.
Who would have seen this one coming?
Maybe our Upper East Siders are not as high and mighty as they care to believe. But who am I to say, I am just a writer.
You know you love me,
XOXO
