The News Is Not The News

The news you watch, is not real news.

The News Is Not The News
CNN

Dear News Networks,

It's me Danna, one of your blindfolded sheep. I am your sheep and you are my herder, telling me which way to go, what to stay away from, and all the things I am supposed to be afraid of in order to survive. That is until you, my herder, kill me by shielding me from all the world has to offer.

I say this with no respect towards you, as you have no respect for me and my life. You do not respect my education and my need to learn more. You cut me off and filter everything, to make you look your best. You teamed up with some of the richest and most corrupt, why did you do that herder? You were supposed to be a reliable source for me, I was supposed to be able to see the world through your eyes, the world, not your world. I was supposed to trust you, and you ruined that, you threw it all away. And now I will remove this blindfold and walk away from you, I will escape your herd and find a new one, where the sheep are free range.

The day is August 29, 2016 and the herders are moving their sheep in so many different directions. Whether it be the distasteful CNN, the crap that is E! News, or the biased overly corrupted Fox News, headlines that read of Gene Wilder's death, but why are they not discussing the deaths of others around the world? Those who have died as a result of world hate, lives that can not impact us the same way Wilder's did. Then there are herders who want us to focus on the fact that Alicia Keys did not wear makeup at the VMA's or how much Drake loves celebrity Rihanna. And of course, all the herders make sure to move us to one main topic, Donald Trump, the Republican Nominee who seems to always be the talk of the town.

You made me distrust you, and my government, the democracy I thought I lived in. The same democracy that has stripped me from my rights of privacy and freedom. Why? Why did you take this away from me. I now have to convince other sheep to find other herders as well, we now have to dig deep and find something reliable. Everything given to us has been filtered to us, and at what point in time did we decide we were okay with that? At what point did we think being a sheep was fine, because everyone else was doing it too.

I now seek to find the truth, and I hope that the rest of you are in on it with me. That you as well will look for the truth and it may be harder, and it may require more effort on our parts, but it will be well worth it. We will be free of the blindfolds and the chains that we have been shackled to.

To my news Networks, I am no longer your sheep. I am the black sheep that wants to break your norm, find the truth, formulate my own opinions. I am disgusted by your nature and as you continue to thrive by keeping us blind, know one thing, one day your secrets will be unveiled as more of us sheep break free.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
