The New You Of 2017

Activate your faith and live beyond your wildest dreams

The New You Of 2017
Daryn Bartlett

Do you know what an active faith looks like?

Here are some friends who were active faith livers:

Abraham

"Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness” (Galatians 3:6).

Moses

"Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left" (Exodus 14:21-22).

Deborah

"And Barak called out Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh. And 10,000 men went up at his heels, and Deborah went up with him" (Judges 4:10).

If you want 2017 to be the best year of your life, be like these fearless heroes and heroine.

Moses could have stayed in Egypt and lived comfortably. Abraham could have remained with his family and not embarked on the crazy faith journey the Lord had for him. Deborah could have chosen not go to war. However, all three made another decision. They acted in faith. They saw God's actions before them, and they were beyond their wildest dreams.

In 2017, choose to be an active faith liver. What does that look like? It looks like not being afraid. Let me ask you a question: Has being afraid ever helped you? Did it help you in 2016? So... STOP.

Be fearless.

The Bible says there is a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3). Right now, it is time to live the life you were always meant to live. For some of us, living this life hasn't happened because of our circumstances. But that is a complete lie. When my life was turned upside down, I had a choice. The choice I made was to let my circumstances change me and influence me. It was the wrong one.

BUT... Not you. Not in 2017.

The new you in 2017 is the one who changes circumstances. You are the force that will cause the enemy and his kingdom to shake. You are going to be the lion or lioness who will influence an atmosphere by simply showing up.

If the projects you will embark on are not working out, assess your situation. You are going to have to be relentless. You will have to be determined. Even when things don't work out as you expect, you must believe they will still work out for your good (Romans 8:28). If something is not quite as it should be, seek to either change yourself or the strategy. Change, enjoy the present success and repeat. This is going to be the new you with active faith. You will be fearless. You will be unstoppable.

So, you may think you need God to confirm some things before you move forward. But, how many more confirmations are you going to request from God? How many more words do you need? Abraham only needed one. Choose to operate solely on faith. Go out and grace us with the gift you are to the world.

2017 is the year of active faith. Go talk to your Father in heaven and get activated.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
