After nine long years, the moment New York Mets fans have been so patiently waiting for has finally arrived. The Mets have clinched their spot in the playoffs by winning the National League East Title after defeating the Cincinnati Reds in a 10-2 victory. The Mets last won the National League East title back in 2006 and have not returned to the playoffs since. The Mets last World Series appearance was back in 2000 when they faced and were defeated by their cross-town rivals The New York Yankees.

Mets fans still remember Mike Piazza leading his team all the way to the World Series back in 2000, but not being able to defeat the Yankees, losing the series 4-1 games. Since then, the Mets have only been able to fight their way to the postseason in 2006. The 2006 Mets were able to make their way to the National League title game where they were bested by the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 games in the series. The St. Louis Cardinals faced the Detroit Cardinals in the World Series and won. The only remaining Met from the 2006 team is Captain David Wright. Fans will remember other star players from the 2006 team including Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, Tom Glavine, and Pedro Martinez.

The Mets are going into the postseason with arguably the best pitching staff in the National League. With Jacob deGrom, Matt Harvey, Bartolo Colon and Noah Syndergaard, only to name a few pitchers in the rotation, The Mets have a strong chance to have postseason success.

New York will be looking toward star players Yoenis Cespedes, Curtis Granderson, and Captain David Wright to drive in postseason runs. Wright, returning to the roster late in the year after battling spinal stenosis, has the utmost confidence in his team. Fans will be paying close attention to any roster changes made in the upcoming weeks. The Mets do not have a clear starter for shortstop in the postseason with Wilmer Flores and Ruben Tejada both competing for the position. Most likely, New York will be using both shortstops swapping them in and out on a game to game basis. The Mets do not officially know who they will be facing in the first round of the playoffs, but it looks like they will be facing the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.

1. You're tired of school food and have resorted to surviving off junk food and cereal.

2. Your financial aid/money is running out...and chances are it all went to textbooks and takeout.
