Every student looks forward to spring break each year. Let's face it, it is oftentimes the only thing on our mind all of spring semester. We see pictures every year of people who visit Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Daytona Beach, Florida. But lets be honest, you can only see these places so many times before the trip becomes a little repetitive. However, there is a new and popular way to start celebrating spring break again! Cruising is a great, all-inclusive, way to explore new places and meet people from all over the world!
There are many great cruise lines to choice from, I highly suggest Royal Caribbean, especially when travelling with a family. This cruise line has great kids club options for all ages, so adults can have some free time also. However, for college age students I would suggest Carnival cruise lines. Carnival is known to be a party boat, with a younger crowd. It is a lot cheaper and is really easy to meet people!
The nice thing about booking a cruise is that everything is included! Booking the smallest interior cabin, which I always do, is still spacious enough for two people. You are only in the room to sleep anyways, so why splurge on that? Secondly, the food, you have too many options to choose from that are included with the overall cruise price. The food is top notch and cooked to order from chefs around the world. There are buffets offered on the lido deck, Sunday brunches in the main dining rooms and fresh made to order pizzas all day everyday! Of course, however, there are extra pricing options available. Personally, when I cruised on Carnivals Victory ship, the sea day brunch was my absolute favorite meal.
There are always going to be extra costs that are available for those who want it, however, you really don’t need to get any of it if you are vacationing on a budget. What’s the first thing you think of while laying on a white sand beach some where? An ice-cold beverage. This, however, will easily cause your bill to double what you originally paid for it in no time. Drinks on a cruise are quite expensive, there is no going around that, however, there are a few tips you can follow to minimize this expense. First, drink packages are available and are worth looking into further depending on the desired cruise line you choose. Second, most cruise lines allow guests to bring a bottle of wine a person, I would definitely utilize this! If you bring champagne on board, orange juice is always available so in the morning you can DIY a mimosa, and even enjoy in it in your room or overlooking the blue ocean. Lastly, you can drink (very responsibly) on the ports. Some small beach bars have great local drink specials! Be careful though, some bars right off the boat will have you paying way more than need be! Do your research on each port so you know where to go and what you want to do!
Enjoy everything there is on a cruise, and trust me, there is a lot. Movies are shown on the pool decks, bingo is played for cash prizes, karaoke and comedy shows are most nights! There is never a dull moment when being on-board. Between the crew-members, food, activities and company around you, there is no better way to spend a successful spring break!
