On September 14, 2016, FX's highly-anticipated sixth season of "American Horror Story" finally aired. Over the course of several months, Creator and Executive Producer Ryan Murphy had fans going insane with questions on what the new season would be about. Of course, the newest trend in media is the element of surprise, so the theme of season six was kept quiet up until the season premiere.
"American Horror Story: My Roanoke Nightmare" is certainly a season that is going to change "American Horror Story" forever. The format received a complete facelift, as the season will be told as an actual story.
Roanoke is set in 2016 in North Carolina. The entire season is set up as a documentary titled My Roanoke Nightmare and stars Shelby Miller, husband Matt, and Matt's sister, Lee. However, a twist in this season shows "dramatic scenes" that use actors, which in return are cast members of "American Horror Story". This is a completely different format that will definitely need some getting used to as the season progresses.
So far, we know that Lily Rabe and Sarah Paulson are playing Shelby Miller, Cuba Gooding, Jr and Andre Holland are playing Matt Miller, and Adina Porter and Angela Bassett are playing Matt's sister Lee.
Even though there has only been one episode, it's clear that this season is taking the horror aspect to the next level. The episode had me on the edge of my seat, as the scenes were significantly scarier than any other season thus far. The documentary-like season has potential of getting even scarier, as guest stars such as Kathy Bates, Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, and Finn Wittrock join the main cast.
Don't forget to tune into "American Horror Story: My Roanoke Nightmare" every Wednesday at 10:00 PM only on FX!
