So, most people are focusing on finals, but I have my sights set on something else. Something on Miller Street, in Winston Salem. Yes, I’m talking about the new Publix that is opening, and I am so excited I cannot even contain it.
What is Publix, you ask? Oh, my friend… let me tell you.
Publix is one of the best grocery store chains in this country. Exaggerating? Maybe, but it’s really awesome. They have the best sub sandwiches on the planet, their chocolate chip cookies are a staple, and I’ve never met a Publix employee that wasn’t a kind individual.
The Publix here is planning on hiring about 150 people, including 100 locals, according to The Winston Salem Journal.
Publix has such a variety of foods and products, you can’t go wrong when aimlessly wandering the aisles, which people often do because it’s essentially a wonderland. As if it wasn’t a dream enough that Publix is coming to Winston Salem, not even 10 minutes from my school, it’s not a regular Publix- it’s a prototype of new things to come.
They are even offering a service called “Apron’s Simple Meals” which will allow customers to sample two recipes every week, and if they like one of them, all the ingredients are located next to the kiosk so there is no hassle wandering the store. (Although as I mentioned wandering through Publix is fun, but to each their own.)
Finally, the icing on the cake (pun very much intended), there is COVERED PARKING. I repeat covered parking. No more frantic trips to your car carrying an ambitious amount of groceries when it’s pouring down rain, and losing bags along the way because you’re getting soaked. No, none of that will happen, because you will be able to park in the convenient parking garage located on the first floor of this store.
Yes, they really did think of it all. Am I sad that my Publix at home does not have these amenities? Actually, yes, slightly. But I will be back in the fall to enjoy this new wonderful grocery store in Winston Salem, so it’s all good.
Get excited Deacs! Summer is coming…and so is Publix.
