The healthier lifestyle the happier the person.

Coming into college, I thought I was living the healthiest lifestyle that I was capable of. But when you get to college that all changes.

Coming into college, I ran all the time. Eat somewhat healthy, but thought I was able to eat out whenever I wanted to because I worked out so often. I played field hockey in the fall all four years and did softball for freshman and sophomore year and then ran track for my junior and senior year for the spring. Both those sports included a lot of running.

On my own, in my free time, I would go on a run here and there. In high school, I would say I would get stressed but I was not a stress eater. However, I was not one to watch what I was eating. However, in years to come the junk foods would catch up to me. People are not kidding when they say that.

Upon entering college, I weight a decent amount that was compatible with my height. However, as the semester progressed I started to gain more and more weight. I would go to the dining hall and not really control my portions or what kind of food I was putting in my body. If I was hungry for a snack I would almost always have one.

As the semester progressed and it came close to winter break I started to realize that my body image changed and I was not happy with it. I know everyone always says that you should be happy with your body no matter what, however, I truly was not.

I realized that I was not living a healthy lifestyle. I was very stressed with school and sports that I would binge eat. Upon going to the dining halls, I would not really think about eating the healthiest options when I should have been. Over winter break, however, I began to workout and I could see the progress but then I feel back to my old habits when returning to campus.

As the months went on I saw my progress go away which takes me to present day. I have recently started a diet where I am starting to lose weight. However, I am replacing my meals with much healthier options and limiting the junk food that I used to put in my body constantly. I as a person feel so much better because the food that I am fueling my body with is making me feel so much more energized.

In addition to eating well, it is very important to be exercising. I think that this was not one of my weaknesses because on average I do intense workouts at least five times a week. It is important to do a lot of running as well as weight lifting to become stronger and an overall healthier person.

I know that college can be stressful and affect the way you eat, however, controlling what you put into your body plays a big factor as well. As I continue to grow into a more healthier lifestyle I think that I will begin to see the progress that I want to see.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.
