The National Society Of Leadership And Success

We build leaders, who make a better worldWe help build your dreams

"If you want to learn how to be a successful leader and gain important knowledge and skills that will be of necessity in your near future, you should think about joining the society!" says Natasha N. of Northeastern University.

The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is an organization that has over 300 chapters across the United States. Recently, this group established itself at Florida State University with a mission to promote professional development, leadership, peer to peer mentoring and networking. NSLS was officially registered as of 2013 and is a truly unique organization.
NSLS believes that if a person has the passion, they have the potential. That is what the organization specifically thrives on: harnessing that potential and helping students to channel it. We want to help build you into the leader that you can be. William S. commented, "It is designed to guide those students who have raw leadership ability, but often no outlet to purse it. It creates better leaders for the world, tomorrow."
As an organization, we provide the necessary steps to help students find their passion and help achieve their goals. Each month we have seminars held by successful individuals, called “speaker broadcasts.” Kevin Bracy, Rudy Giuliani, Hilary Duff, Blake Mycoskie and Jim Cramer have been previous guests. The broadcasts are specifically for the society and speak directly to us. We have SNTs, or Success Networking Teams, that are composed of chapter members and their team leaders. Success Networking Team leaders are chapter members who are not on the executive board. This position provides more leadership opportunities within the organization. The SNTs are designed so that students can network within the group and help each other overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

The National Society of Leadership and Success gives students the tools to make their dreams become a reality. Each student, once initiated, is offered exclusive job opportunities in the national's job bank, links to past speakers, exclusive scholarships and success coaching.

I have had the honor of serving on the first executive board with some truly inspirational people. Our executive board is full of diverse and creative minds. We worked together to form this incredible organization and tackled all of the hurdles as a team. No matter what our position, we helped each other, which really shows the leadership within this group. We just want to see each other and the organization succeed.
Our executive board is made up of many ambitious students. Rachel Houston is our president and founder, and also a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Matt Galligan is our Vice President. Joe Rock is a junior serving as our Society Events Chair and is a brother of Kappa Sigma. Madeline DuPlessis is a sophomore in Zeta Tau Alpha serving as our Publicity Chair. Callan Roten is a member of Phi Mu serving as our Secretary. Rachel Sticco is a Kappa Delta and our Treasurer. Jean Tabares is our SNT Coordinator and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. Tiffany Song is our Fundraising Chair and Mitchell Paulk is our Social Events Chair. Contact us if you have any questions about NSLS!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.
