It's the most wonderful time of the year - except it isn't, not when the time of the year has already been going on since before Thanksgiving. Christmas used to be the most exciting day, maybe even more so than my birthday. The presents, waking up before dawn, watching "A Christmas Story" on the movie channels all day long. So when did that end? When did Christmas stop being something to look forward to, and instead just another day? Maybe when the songs began playing in November, rather than in December where they belonged. (Okay, so the music isn't entirely to blame for my lack of enthusiasm regarding Christmas, but it certainly isn't helping.)
Note: I do not know the original writers of these songs. But I'm sure you can look at the titles, and have some version of them play in your head immediately.
1. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree
2. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
Giphy3. All I Want For Christmas Is You
4. Jingle Bells (One Horse Open Sleigh)
5. Joy To The World
6. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer
7. Last Christmas
(This one in particular never fails to put a frown on my face.)
