When you were a child, he picked you up and put you on his shoulders so you could see. He sucked up his manhood and played Polly Pockets and Dress Up with you–he was your first playmate, your first best friend.
A few years later, you felt all grown up and just knew you were ready for a boyfriend. But your dad had another opinion and the protective side came out (and never went away). He wasn’t ready to give up the title of the one and only man in your life.
When you became a teenager—much to his dismay—he took you to the biggest parking lot nearby and taught you how to drive. Arguments and sighs were plenty, but you passed your driver’s test with flying colors. And now you could drive yourself to friends’ houses and dates with your boyfriend.
Suddenly, your high school days are over and you’re in college. Over the last few years you’ve learned to make your own decisions, you’ve gained more and more independence, and you’ve become *dare I say it* an adult. But you’ve also learned that you’ll always need your dad for something:
Whether you need some life advice
A good laugh
Help with your homework:
Or just some love and comfort
He's there.
