When someone thinks of Disney World they often focus on the attractions, characters, and of course, the fireworks. And they’re all great, don’t get me wrong. Trust me I cry every time I see the fireworks, but one of the highlights and integral parts of the ultimate Disney extravaganza is none other than the food. To help all of you experience Disney at its best, I have compiled a list of my personal favorite Disney treats, and trust me I am a Disney food connoisseur!
*Disclaimer - I won't be including the usual Disney treats, such as Mickey Waffles, Mickey Bars, etc.
1. Carrot Cake Cookie - Hollywood Studios
Our list begins with one of the best! The carrot cake cookie is delicious. It has two carrot cake cookies with cream cheese frosting in the middle. Not only is it amazing, but its huge too! So make sure you have an empty stomach for this one.
2. Cinnamon Bun - Magic Kingdom
Nestled in Gaston’s Tavern, these cinnamon buns are HUGE and filled with sweet goodness. If you don’t believe me just look above. I promise you won’t be disappointed with this one.
3. Cream Cheese Pretzel - Hollywood Studios
Now this one is very difficult to come by. The once resident of the Lunching Pad in Magic Kingdom, the cream cheese pretzel is now found at a stand outside of the Great Movie Ride in Hollywood Studios. It’s one of Disney’s famous large pretzels, but with a twist, its filled with cream cheese. Now I know what you’re thinking, this may sound a little ehh, but I promise you it is stupendous.
4. Dole Whip - Polynesian Village Resort
Before you think that these are found in Adventureland, I don’t need to go to the Polynesian to get one, you are very wrong. You do need to go to the Polynesian to get one because only at the Poly will you find this pineapple treat with Vanillia ice cream! The dole whips found in Magic Kingdom are good, but they're only pineapple ice cream, which is too sweet for me.
5. Candy Apple - Magic Kingdom
Found right in the front of the park in Main Street Confectionary, you will find an assortment of candy apples. They vary from the usual caramel apples to candy apples with nuts to Mickey apples dipped in chocolate. These Mickey apples are truly special and visual stunning. They’re almost too pretty to eat … almost.
6. Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich - Animal Kingdom
When walking around Animal Kingdom, have some ice cream is a must. You obviously can find all the usuals, Mickey ice cream bars, soft serve cones. But, Animal has a sweet treat with a twist, or rather a cookie. In Africa, you can find a double chocolate chip cookie sandwich. I can tell you from experience that these chocolate cookies with vanilla ice cream is like tasting a little bit of heaven.
7. The Grey Stuff - Magic Kingdom
If you are ever fortunate enough to dine in Be Our Guest, you must, and I truly mean must, try the Grey Stuff. During lunch time you can get it on a cupcake, which is my personal choice, and at dinner you can get it on a brownie bar! This treat tastes kind of like cookies and cream but even better. And if you don’t believe me, ask the dishes!
8. Frushi - Epcot
Now this one is a seasonal treat found only during the Flower and Garden Festival in the Spring. However, it will leave you waiting for it all year. Featured in Japan, this one combines sushi and fruit! It is one of my absolute favorite things to eat in all of Disney World and if you don’t believe me just look at the picture.
9. Kitchen Sink - Magic Kingdom
If you like ice cream and a Mickey Mouse sink that doubles as a bowl, then this is right up your alley. Found right on Main Street USA, this ice cream special is perfect for winding down after a long day in the park. So grab that kitchen sink and enjoy the castle view!
10. 'Ohana Bread Pudding - Polynesia
I have saved the best for last. This is hands down the most delicious thing I have ever eaten in Disney World. Served at Ohana’s in the Polynesian, this banana bread pudding is smothered in a hot caramel sauce and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The key with this one is that you don’t even have to eat at Ohana’s. You can go to the bar right outside of the restaurant and order this dessert for just $6. THAT’S RIGHT, $6!
Next time you venture to the Happiest Place on Earth, I recommend you go on an empty stomach. Bon Appétit!
