As we approach the last month of summer vacation, its hard to believe the school year is right around the corner. The new year surfaces just about every emotion in the book: excitement, sadness, anticipation, fear, along with so many more. No matter how old we get, we have the same experience every August. As a senior in college, I have come to know this time just as well as I know every episode of FRIENDS. The relatable experience happens to everyone... even our fondest FRIENDS.

1. When you look at the calendar and realize it is practically almost August....

2. When you realize your friends come back in a few weeks....

3. When you try to recall information from last semester....

4. When your friends ask if you reviewed anything over the summer...

5. But you did teach yourself something in the boring office job this summer...

6. When your friends finally arrive...

7. But then you see people who aren't considered friends...

8. When you people ask if you are ready for the next school year...

9. Then people remind you how difficult the semester is going to be...

10. When your alarm goes off the first day of classes...

11. And have homework pertaining to the syllabus...

12. Then your roommate suggests going to happy hour instead...

13. Halfway through...

14. Then you realize this is how the whole year is going to be...

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
