This coming Thursday, November 12, 2015, marks 100 days away from Ball State University’s Dance Marathon. To celebrate, Miracle Week has come to campus! Every day will be filled with a different FTK event to get the students pumped and ready for the actual day that's quickly approaching.
To kick it off, the Dance Marathon team held a basketball tournament Sunday night in the theme of none other than space jam. Teams of five played against each other to win the tournament and a plaque to go along with it and in the end a team called "Sports" took the cake! BSUDM's Morale Committee also treated the players to a flashmob of last year's line dance.
So what should you expect for the rest of the week?
Monday: Dancer Preview Party and Just Dance Off
The Dancer Preview Party is a party that demonstrates all that BSUDM has to offer. For an hour in the Student Center Ballroom (7:30-8:30 pm) students will get a glimpse at how the real day of Dance Marathon will go. In the hour, students will get to learn a little bit last years' line dance and learn more about this year's goals — and more information about Dance Marathon in general. Following right after is the Just Dance Off (8:30-9:30 pm) in the same room! To take the night of celebration even further, BSUDM is hosting one big dance party where students will be playing Just Dance all together.
Tuesday: Giraffe Scavenger Hunt
From 11 am to 3 pm make sure to be watching BSUDM social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). All around campus, BSUDM will be hiding little Giraffe stuffed animals around campus for students to search for and find. How to look for them? The social media pages will be posting hints and tips as to where the Giraffes are!
Wednesday: Walleyball Tournament
If sports are for you then this day is your day. For only $20 per team of 4-6 people, BSUDM is holding a tournament at the Walleyball Courts in the Recreational Center from 8-11 pm. So show of your walleyball moves and a chance to win not only the plaque of a winner but bragging rights as well.
Thursday: 100 Day Challenge
With Dance Marathon being only 100 days away, BSUDM challenges all registered dancers to raise $100 that day for the kids! If you're registered for the dance be sure to blast your fundraiser page on social media and get the word out there that the marathon is near. If you're not a registered dancer, feel free to donate to any of your friend's personal fundraiser pages or find a Riley Bucket near you to throw some coins into. And if you want to become a registered dancer, be sure to visit the registration page for Ball State's Dance Marathon.
Friday: “Why I DM”
To end the week off, BSUDM will be posted up at the Scramble Light with boards for students to write why they DM. With the use of the hashtag #whyidm you can put up pictures of the board and show the world the reasons why Dance Marathon has impacted your life.
I hope you all are ready for this week. A miracle is coming to our little campus here in Muncie!
