The Meaning of Love to Six Different Individuals

With February being the month of love, it got me thinking about what exactly love is. While I could go on another one of my rants about what it means to me, I decided to take a different path for this piece. Six amazing individuals, both male and female, offered their input on the famous word and it left me realizing how beautiful being loved and loving others is. No matter who we are and what makes each of us different, there is one thing that has the power to bring us together and that is the magical four letter word -- LOVE. On that note, here are what those lovely souls said.

How would you describe love?

1. My definition of love is finding both comfort and security in another person. Being in love means feeling supported, having fun, being comfortable and trusting that other person. Love means being able to tell them everything, while also being able to disagree and argue sometimes, though no matter what, always bounce back from it.

2. I would describe love as one of the best feelings in the world. Love is everything. Love is waking up next to the person who means everything to you, feeling secure, feeling hopeful, thinking what tomorrow may bring, never knowing exactly what to say, your heart in stomach. The list goes on and on.

3. Love is different for everyone it doesn't only have to be in a relationship but loving yourself is one of the most important loves you can recognize. Love for me has had it's ups and downs. Going through a little hard spot of being depressed and anxious with my daily life got me to realize I need to be happy first before trying to make other people happy when they just break you down. I am in an amazing relationship where I am in love with myself and my boyfriend. By being in a happy, healthy, loving, caring and fun relationship, I realized what love really is and how it can make you feel. I am blessed to be in love with not only my self but an amazing guy.

4. It's hard to describe love because you can feel love in so many different aspects. However, love to me is having that special relationship that you don't even have words to describe. It's the feeling of completeness and warmth. It's the feeling of their scruffy beard or cold toes that make you feel safe. Love is something not everyone may get to have, but having the feeling is something someone should never take for granted because I know others would kill for it. Love is smiling in awkward places just because you're thinking about your significant other or going from arguing to giggling in a matter of seconds because you know it's so silly to fight because it's never worth losing that person.

5. To me, love is being able to think of someone with every emotion, you can love them hate them, get mad at them, be happy with them, to a deeper level. Love will make you do anything for that someone no matter what. You'll think about that person day in and day out and hope they're thinking of you too. If you love someone you'll do anything to keep them, and if they go away you'll do anything to try and bring them back. How you fight for someone and show truly how much you can care about them through everything you do, that's love.

6. To me, love is accepting the person and every little thing that comes with them, the good and the bad. It's the feeling of pure happiness when I look into his eyes and he's looking right back into mine, knowing that everything will be okay. Love is choosing to work through the sticky situations and to be by your partners side during the whole process. It means being silly, playful, but most importantly, comfortable with each other & acknowledging that both of us might be very different, but opposites do attract and our differences will only bring us closer. It's the excitement I feel when I fall asleep in his arms, wake up to his handsome face and gentle kisses, and being greeted with his warm embrace after a long day. To me, love is the greatest thing in this crazy world.

Love is all around us my readers. It has the power to change the world while helping each of us grow in a way we once thought wasn't possible. So love with all of your hearts, no matter what you do.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
