The Me I Want To Be

Ask yourself who you want to be?

"The difference between who you are and who you want to be...Is what you do."

Ask yourself: are you who you want to be? It's a simple question, yet the hardest to respond to. I believe that each person is put on this earth with a purpose. God has created us to be the person He needs us to be. He made us each to be extraordinary in our own ways. With that being said, are you happy with who you are? If not, improve yourself by being who you want to be.

For me, I never thought about this simple question until my coworker asked me to describe who I want to be with one adjective. I replied back that I really wasn't sure. She told me to give it a week and let her know what my thoughts were. After a few days, it finally hit me. I wanted to be inspiring. I want to have the effect of inspiring other people to do more, to be a better person and to do what they love. Whatever it is that you want to be, don't be afraid to let that happen. Show people who you really are.

Growing up, I always had a picture in my head of what my life should look like through the different time frames I faced. However, the picture of my life for the future doesn't look like my life right now in the present. I have realized that God's plan for me is much more than what I thought I was only capable of doing when I was younger. I am here for a purpose as everyone else is as well. It's your life, so make the changes. If you want to be a worldly person then travel the world, if you want to be motivating then, be positive, if you want to be kind then do things for others, etc. If you have an idea of who you want to be then fulfill that trait.

For me, I'm always looking to learn more and improve myself so that I can be the best possible version of me. I have more than one goal, and I am constantly adding more responsibilities to my list because that's how I am. I want to inspire people to do what they want and to be who they want. It's that simple. No its, ands or buts about it. Therefore, are you the person who you want to be? If not, change it; you have all the power you need to fix it.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
