It gets hard keeping up with all the makeup releases. It seems as if every week brings new products. It can be overwhelming and there is no way knowing which will be duds and which will be perfection. Luckily, we have people who try out these new products and we trust and value their opinions.
A recent gem has blown up in the past week, the YSL Beauty All Hours Matte Foundation. Yes I know, it is a luxury brand so it is pricey, to say the least.
For $58 –– yes, i know it's a lot –– you receive less than full fluid ounces per usual; you receive .84 oz. There are 22 shades which seems promising, however, all but three shades are for fair to medium. To be honest, the "medium" shades lean more light than tan shades.
Fortunately, for me I am very fair, so personally this doesn't effect me but this should be a resolved issue to say the least.
Now that we have gotten through the cons, let's get on to the wonderful pros. This foundation is formulated for oily skin and the website claims it is "a full coverage foundation that provides uninterrupted flawless wear."
I couldn't think of a perfect claim because it does exactly that. It claims to last 24 hours with out transferring, caking up, breaking down or flake. It has sunscreen and black tea antioxidant for skincare benefits and protection. It has ingredients to blur pores and wrinkles and conceals imperfections. So basically, it's perfection.
I have very oily skin and typically, the long lasting matte foundations break down and cake up by the end of the day.
However, I got a sample of this foundation and didn't expect much. But of course, I fell in love with it after one use. I kept going back for samples over and over until I finally convinced myself to splurge. I don't regret it one bit. It lasts all day and looks fresh throughout the entire day. There is no need for touches up, and doesn't feel or look heavy ever!
Typically, a full coverage foundation, after consecutive uses will clog pores but this makes my skin looks and feels better every day. So I think it is worth every dollar to have the perfect skin I've been yearning for.
