My Early Thoughts On The Mandalorian

An early look at the first two episodes of Disney's first live action series.

My Early Thoughts On The Mandalorian

I was originally going to wait until I had finished the whole series to talk about it, but seeing as the episodes are released weekly, I figured some of you might appreciate some early impressions. That being said, I think the best compliment I can give to this series is that it truly speaks to the heart of what it means to be a piece of Star Wars fiction.

What does that mean? Let me try and explain.

When my Dad first showed me Star Wars years ago I was astounded by this amazing adventure through a new galaxy and by the mystery surrounding the Jedi and their ancient power. Later on I began to realize the more intricate detail. The story of hope in a hopeless place, the amazing characters, and that special bit of Star Wars charm that brings it all together.

The Manadlorian valiantly attempts to capture and capitalize on these qualities...and so far, it's succeeding.

Watching this series is just so fun. It's to the point that i'm cursing Disney for their weekly release schedule; honestly I just want to binge it all. I should have expected as much from a series that is directed and executively produced by Jon Favreau, (Iron Man director), but i digress.

The action is superb, and the show proves it within the first ten minutes. Fantastic CGI and visuals make the show look just as good as the blockbusters. The atmosphere and pace is extremely engaging and never fails to hold all of your attention. Western style shootouts, a stoic bounty hunter, recognizable pieces of the Star Wars universe; it all adds up in an extremely entertaining way.

Of course we're only two episodes in and there's six episodes left to tell the full story, but here's hoping that The Mandalorian stays strong in the force and continues to impress.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
