To Make A Choice

The Decisions we make

212
To Make A Choice

If there is one thing I have learned over the years, is that it takes one moment, one person one thought, one action, one move to change your life forever, to color your thinking, to force you to reevaluate everything you have ever known. To ask yourself the toughest questions, do you know who you are? Do you understand the consequences of your action? Do you want to live this way for the rest of your life?

Choices. Choices. Choices. Every day we wake up to a world of endless possibilities. We make a decision whether or not to go to school, work, among others. We are surrounded by different ideas, that factors into every decision that we make. And so why do some of us end up making the wrong choice? Why do some of us make a choice to give up the whole world just so that our fellow humans can smile while others try to gain the whole world just so that they can make a mockery of others?

We are a complex ecosystem. We are humans capable of greatness. Our words, actions, thought can change someone’s life forever, yet we chose to speak the wrong things, act the wrong way and think the wrong thought. It might surprise you to know that 85% of the things we tend to worry about never happens. This begs the question of ‘how do we make the right choice’?

Have you ever seen the tides at the beach? Have you ever seen the cloud formation? These things in nature just happen. Nature doesn’t make a choice on how the clouds would look like. Nature never makes a mistake. No matter what choices we make, we must be able to trust our intuition. Whether or not our choices are bad, it can lead us to a point where we can fully trust our brains. We can be like nature, whether an earthquake or a tornado, we can trust that the aftermath will help us rebuild and make us stronger. Our choices define who we are. So the next time you have a choice to make, think of the clouds; they are never misshaped and they always do the right thing. Just be still and make the right choice.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
