Stop and take a minute to appreciate the little things in life

"Sometimes it's the little things that count most."

Take a look around and what do you see? People bustling about in a hurry. Cars speeding by trying to reach their destination as quickly as possible. Do you realize it? Probably not. We are all too engrossed in our own lives to really notice everything else going on around us. Sure, you may look up for a moment and see something nice, but do we really ever stop to appreciate the little things anymore like sunsets, the clouds, the summer tiger lilies along the roadside? Do you really ever stop and appreciate the little things someone else does for you? Like getting you a Cherry Coke and Hot Fries after you're hooked up to the EEG? (Which I really do appreciate, Lacie. Thank you so much) Why don't we as a collective society really stop and smell the proverbial and actual roses?

Honestly, I'm not sure. Yeah, you could say that it's because we are too consumed with our phones and Pokemon GO. Maybe we have all become so self-centered that these things pass by us without a second thought? I'm not really sure, but I do know one thing.

We all need to take some time to just stop, look around, and really appreciate the little things in our lives. Whether that be a cute love note your significant other has left for you, someone complimenting how you look, or just the fact that you woke up with the sun shining and hot breakfast waiting for you downstairs. Appreciate what you have and be grateful that you do have these little things in your life.

The little things will always mean more than the big things in life. Wave at a stranger, tell someone hello and that you hope they have a nice day. Help someone out if you see them struggling. Be a nice person and you would be amazed at how good you'll feel and how good you may have made someone else feel. Give it a try sometime.

All in all, appreciate the little things in life, they will mean for more to you later in life.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
