The Life Of A Concert Junkie

Seeing my favorite celebrity in concert takes my breath away.

The Life Of A Concert Junkie
Lauren Richardson

There is something special about concerts. It is hundreds or thousands of people in the same place enjoying the art of music. Whether it is your favorite artist or an artist that happens to be in your town it is always worth going. There is nothing like thousands of people singing (screaming) the same lyrics. You could be at a stadium full of screaming girls, crying over their celebrity crush. The look in people’s eyes when they get to see their favorite artist live is like nothing you will ever see or experience anywhere else. You could be in a small venue with fifty or so people swaying to music they hardly know and your heart still fills with joy.

Seeing my favorite celebrity live in concert takes my breath away. If you are lucky enough to be really close you may even get a wave from them. This has happened to me the feeling in my heart will never be forgotten. For even that split second, you feel like it is just you and that person, a dream that finally came true. If you are far away you get the chance to see the thousands of lights swaying back and forth during that slow song. That sight is truly magnificent. I have numerous videos of the whole stadium being lit up and it is a gorgeous site. I would say that it is an art piece that can't be captured by a picture, only by your heart and mind. The feeling I get when the band walks on stage is like nothing ever experienced before. I am so happy I could literally fall over and start crying in the fetal position, but I don't because I want to be able to take in everything that happens.

Most of the times people go to concerts with a couple friends but come out having double or triple the amount the came with. I can personally vouch for this. I would say a good quarter of my friends are people who were strangers to me until I went to see a band live in concert. This is truly inspiring. The fact that total strangers can become so close in such a short amount of time blows my mind. The instant connection I feel with people who love a band as much as I do is a feeling that most people don't get to experience. The few hours I spend dancing my heart out along with the new friends I have made will be memoires that will never be forgotten.

The happiness that comes out of concerts is great. If you are anything like me you take numerous videos so you can look back on them every night before bed for the next month. Every time I have a small thought of that night at the concert I can't help but smile, even if I am in public. The memories I made at the concert I never stop thinking about them. Each concert I have gone to has helped shape me into the person I am today.

There are only two downsides of going to concerts. The first one is the extreme amount of money concerts cost. It is scary how much money one will drop to be close to their favorite artist but in the end the memories are so worth it. I can tell you that I have traveled over 2,000 miles to see my favorite band and the end bill wasn't anything compared to the amount of joy I experienced.

The only thing worse than spending a bunch of money is the post concert depression. It happens after every concert. I realize that the moment it ends the same experience will never happen again. Then I come to the conclusion that I may not see my favorite band until their next album comes out and they decide to tour again. It is a sad time but it doesn't last long because most likely you have another concert to too long away!

The experience of being at a live concert is something that is different than most. It isn't aired on TV like a sports game. One concert is never like the previous one. I have gone to the same tour two days apart and it was two completely different experiences. Two different atmospheres, new friends to meet and a new perspective can change a whole concert even if the music is the same. All I can say is that, no matter how old I get or how crazy my life gets, I will never stop going to concerts.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
