We are all entitled to our own opinions.

Before I get into anything and you judge me for whatever godforsaken reason you can think of, let me state that I do not agree with everything that has been said during this election, but it is impossible to agree with someone on every issue or topic. Also, I would like to note that one's political opinion does not measure one's intelligence, worth as a human or morality. I am not a racist. I am not uneducated, and I am completely entitled to my opinions, along with every other American citizen.

That being said, Donald Trump is bold, brash, and not afraid to speak his mind. While that is both a vice and a virtue, it is refreshing having a candidate that is seemingly truthful and does not calculate every statement he makes. Are there repercussions for making offensive and rash statements? Of course. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t see some logic and truth in said statements.

I like to believe that Donald Trump is a man who sticks to his word. He is a successful businessman who doesn’t have a background in politics, which again is refreshing. I trust that Trump will stick to his word and attempt to change this country for the better. The economy is a wreck, terrorism is impacting every country in the world, social issues are rampant in the US, and there have been moves to improve the state of the once great United States of America.

We desperately need something new, and I honestly believe that Hillary Clinton would do nothing to help this country. The same old politics are not working and are getting us nowhere. Personally, I believe that Clinton has been a part of the game way too long, most likely owes one too many favors and cannot be trusted. Simply, I don't want a woman under CIA investigation in the White House. If she can blatantly lie to the public, what makes you think she won’t conceal important information from us if she was to be elected? The thought of that political snake in the White House does not sit well with me, along with thousands of others. But I cannot ignore how millions of people believe having Trump, a hot-headed mogul, in the oval office would be all that great either.

And on the other hand, some of Hillary's opinions and policies do appeal to me, such as women's healthcare reform. She is not the spawn of Satan, and neither is Trump, for that matter. I feel as if we are given two extreme choices -- and at such a progressive and interesting time in history, it is beyond me to be so limited. I am 18 years old, finally able to vote, and I am stuck with these candidates. Just my luck.

What I'm getting at, though, is that most people will be voting for who they believe to be the lesser of two evils. So listen to everyone's opinions, consider them, and mold your own. Don't disregard the intellectual and thoughtful nature of debate and turn all political conversation into an argument. Be open to all ideas and opinions, and if you disagree, you disagree -- Keep that in mind as November rolls around.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
