A few weeks one of my favorite TV shows ever, "The Originals," ended after five (glorious) seasons. The series started off as a spin-off of popular teen drama, "The Vampire Diaries." However, through the seasons, "The Originals" became much more than a spin-off. It became a successful show and some (including myself) even liked it better than its parent show.
For those of you who don't know, "The Originals" follows the lives of the oldest known vampires, "The Originals." But unlike other vampire dramas, "The Originals" is not just some sappy love story with unbelievable supernatural abilities. It's a show about family, love, friendship, and so much more.
Personally, for me, one of the things that make the show so compelling is the fact that it has the same supernatural, mystical tone of "The Vampire Diaries" minus the annoying high school drama. "The Originals," overall, in my opinion, also has a superior story and plot line to any other supernatural show I have watched. Additionally, one of the main characters, Klaus Mikaleson, makes the show interesting to watch. Klaus is a unique character who you will inevitably end up developing a love-hate relationship with.
The show can be quite addicting when you start it. But don't worry with five adventure packed seasons, four already available on Netflix, you can binge away! Recent episodes can also be viewed on the shows channel website, cwtv.com.
Even though "The Originals" came to an end in August, fear not! There is already a confirmed spin-off in the works, "The Legacies," which will follow Klaus' (one of the original vampires) daughter, Hope's story. Although I will miss watching "The Originals," I'm excited to see if the spin-off will live up to the standard set by its parent show.
