As I enter the home stretch of my junior year, I am faced with the dilemma that comes at the end of every school year: Excitement for summer and three months of relaxation, competing with the dread that comes with the last weeks of school.
Between exams, papers, projects, meetings and everything else that college students have on our plate, it's as if the teachers are making you prove that you can make it to summer without dying. Here is that struggle of the last six weeks of school as told by the one and only Michael Scott.
Six weeks to go:
Coming back from spring break refreshed and relaxed, finals and homework are the last thing on your mind. All you can think about are those fond memories when you were feelin' hot, hot, hot.
Five weeks to go:
While you may still be daydreaming about warm weather and no responsibilities, professors have wasted no time and are already loading on the papers and tests. But come on, there is still so much time, lets all just relax.
Four weeks to go:
When the realization hits that there is only one month left for you to get your grades up, you're first filled with denial...
Then you resort to a new strategy: Sucking up to your professor so, hopefully, they'll have sympathy for you and give you a better grade.
Three weeks to go:
Now there is no denying it, finals and papers are coming quickly. Now is time to get in the zone, so let the pep talks and motivational quotes begin.
Two weeks to go:
Crunch time, folks. These last two weeks are usually a blur of coffee and study guides, and if you're able to see the sun during the day then you're one of the lucky few. But you need to start believing that you can make it to the end, so the confidence starts coming out (even if you have to fake it).
One week to go:
It's the final countdown. This is what you've been working for, so it is time to tackle the tests and show your professors what you're made of. Then you read the essay prompt and come up with a new plan - fake it till you make it.
The freedom of summer is just around the corner, so if you can make it through the last six weeks of school you can make it through anything! Channel your inner Michael Scott, and keep your eyes on the light at the end of the tunnel.
