For this summer I decided to visit my mother in Los Angeles and stay with her. It has been a very pleasant experience even though coming out here I didn't know many people. Every day the weather is beautiful and there are so many fun activities to do. From just lounging by the pool to going to the beach or hiking Runyon Canon there are a lot of reasons to be outside. It has been an adjustment to the time zone difference, for a person who loves to sleep in I have found myself waking up early because Los Angeles is 3 hours behind the East coast. This also can be tough when talking to my friends back home. If I end up working a later shift until 10pm that is 1pm their time and usually they are about to head to bed when I get home. The beaches are pretty great because the water isn't absolutely freezing until mid-August like the Jersey Shore. I hope to go surfing for my first time before I head back home at the end of the summer, just for the experience. I also live within walking distance of "The Grove" which is a tourist location where there are different restaurants and shops. Live music is also a big thing in LA and a lot of places are free to attend if you are on a budget and want to have a nice evening. Los Angeles is an entertainment and sports hub, there is always a sport that is in season. A state-of-the art stadium is almost complete which will host multiple big events in the future such as Super Bowls, Final Fours, and college bowl games. I am very lucky to have this opportunity to stay out here and experience a different lifestyle. I will keep everyone updated on how the rest of my time out here goes.
