The Kind of Love That You Deserve

Do not ever settle for anything less.

We all dream of the person who will someday sweep us off of our feet and make us forget about everything else. We dream of falling in love and meeting the person that we may someday spend the rest of our lives with. Because of these thoughts, however, we settle very fast in hopes that we won't have to search anymore. We justify the hurting actions of others because we can't wait to settle down. We settle for less than what we truly deserve.

Here are 10 things that you deserve in the love that you will one day find. Do not settle for anything less.

1. Someone who supports you.

We all deserve someone who supports our ideas, actions and goals in life. Even if sometimes they may not agree with what your dreams consist of. This person will cheer you on, regardless of what you want out of life. As long as what you're doing makes you happy, they will feel happy as well.

2. Someone who understands you.

You will have days where you won't be yourself and you will have days where you are MORE than yourself. The one who you should be with is the one who understands this. You will have your bad days and you will say things that you may regret, but this person will always be understanding and will do everything in their power to make this clear to you. They will know exactly what and what not to say at the moments when you most need the encouraging words, or in the moments where all you need is a reassuring hug.

3. Someone who values you and shows it.

This person should bring out your full potential. This person will see all of your flaws and fall in love with every single one of them. They will show you that your flaws aren't really flaws at all and they will make you feel more like yourself than you have ever felt before. You will be valued in the same ways that you have always valued the people who are lucky enough to be in your life.

4. Someone who puts in effort.

Plain and simple, you deserve the effort that you are giving to someone else. If you are stressing out about someone or wondering why you're trying so hard for them when you get nothing in return, then this is not the person for you. You do not deserve a one-sided kind of love! You deserve someone's time. You deserve someone's kindness. You deserve someone who wants to put in effort to make you feel wanted.

5. Someone who is honest.

I'm sure you've heard it before and I'm here to remind you once again: the setting stone for any relationship is trust. A relationship cannot function properly without trust. Being honest goes a long way and I hope more than anything that if you're continuously being lied to, I hope you have the courage and strength to walk away from the disrespect that you are being dealt with. You deserve honesty, loyalty and everything good that lies in-between.

6. Someone who is respectful.

Respect is something that you should always value in any relationship that you have with another person. It is especially important for the relationship that you will someday have with the one you will potentially spend your entire life with. You should never let anyone belittle you. You deserve someone who respects every aspect about you. This means that they respect your family, friends, opinions and values. If they cannot give you the respect that you deserve, I hope you realize that someone in the world will.

7. Someone who makes you laugh.

We can all agree that life gets tough. On the days that the world seems to be caving in on you, you deserve someone who is going to make your day much more bearable. Because of this person, every day will be a day that you anticipate. When times get hard, you deserve someone who knows how to relieve you of pain and make your eyes glow with happiness, even if it is for a short second. You deserve endless smiles, cheesy jokes, belly-aching laughs and never ending happiness.

8. Someone who never makes you question what you are.

It truly hurts my heart knowing how many people there are in the world who are questioning their worth because of another person. With the person you deserve, you will never have to question if that person wants you in their life. They will make it loud and clear whether they want you in their life or not. If you have to question yourself or question them, then it's time to walk away. You deserve so much more.

9. Someone who makes time for you.

This one is so important. I have heard the "I'm too busy" excuse many times. Now don't get me wrong, I understand that life is a hectic thing. I understand that people are busy and it is important to focus on your personal goals, but I promise you that if you are important to someone, they will make time for you no matter how busy they truly are. If you're not a priority to someone, then they will always be "too busy." Know your worth and know that you're worthy of someone's time, no matter how precious that person's time is.

10. Someone whose actions speak louder than their words.

Words are extremely powerful things and sadly, sometimes words are used for the manipulation of others feelings. The term "actions speak louder than words" is definitely a term that I hold near and dear to my heart. If someone is telling you that they care about you, and they're not actually showing you that they care about you, then I promise you that they do not care about you. You deserve someone whose actions match up with their words. If they are saying that they love you, then they will show you that they love you. If they are telling you that they will always be there for you, then they will always be there for you. Be with the one whose actions match their words.

You are worthy of each and every one of these things. Do not settle for anything less than the one who will give you the world.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
