The Kardashian Family Tree

Fame misunderstood.

It seems to me that everyone has an opinion of the Kardashians. They either talk about Kim and her butt, Khloe and her crazy marriage to Lamar Odom or Kylie and her cosmetically enhanced lips. Yet, no one takes the time to actually watch their show and see them interact with one another. The Kardashians, in my opinion, are a loving family with issues just like any other family. They are a misunderstood group of people who aren’t given a chance.

Let’s start with Kim. Kimberly Kardashian is a model, entrepreneur and reality television star. It's quite sad to say that she did become more popular from the sex tape that was allegedly leaked from her and R&B singer Ray J in early 2007. Kim sued Vivid Entertainment but later dropped the lawsuit and settled for $5 million. This situation boosted Kim’s career, rather than destroying it. Kim has been busy since then. She has a famous fragrance, “Kimberly,” which was very successful. She also, along with her sisters Khloe and Kourtney, owns DASH, a women’s boutique. Kim has also created a very popular app called "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood" which has been very successful since its release in early 2014. She is also a mother and wife. Kim Kardashian is a rather busy woman.

Now, we have Kourtney, who is a mother of three beautiful children: Mason, Penelope, and Reign Disick. All of these children are from her pervious relationship with socialite, Scott Disick. They were together for 10 years before their split, but they remain friends. Kourtney Kardashian is also an entrepreneur. She has her hands in several businesses such as the clothing boutique I mentioned earlier, and a skincare line entitled PerfectSkin. Kourtney also models. She has done covers of many magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Fit Pregnancy, Lucky, Shape, Cliq, and many more. Kourtney has had many spinoffs from the family reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." She plans to write a book on her experiences in Hollywood.

Khloe Kardashian, who just happens to be my favorite, is married to Lamar Odom. She is actually in the process of divorcing him. The divorce was postponed due to Lamar being sick. Khloe is also a model and reality television star. Why is Khloe my favorite you ask? Khloe is my favorite because she is the funniest to me. She’s the most down to earth, and she really cares about her family which makes me feel connected to them even more. Khloe reminds me a lot of myself as well.

Kendall Jenner is the daughter of Kris and Bruce (now known as Caitlyn) Jenner. Kendall is a high fashion model. She does runway as well as photography. She has modeled for Victoria's Secret, Versace, Calvin Klein, etc. Many feel as though Kendall is the only member of her family who has created a real career for herself. I don’t agree, but that’s another topic for another day. Kendall is sassy, yet sweet and has a very bright personality.

Kylie Jenner is also the daughter of Kris and Caitlyn. Kylie owns Kylie Cosmetics, which is a cosmetic line that Kylie created in early 2016. This cosmetic line has been very successful and has gained Kylie a lot of respect from other cosmetic lines. Kylie just announced that she will be releasing her first eyeshadow pallet. This is a huge step for Kylie seeing as though her line only consisted of various lipsticks and glosses. Kylie is also known for her famous relationship with rapper Tyga. Their relationship was controversial because of their age difference, they were rumored to have been dating while Kylie was 17 and Tyga was 25. This was never confirmed, but as soon as Kylie turned 18, their relationship became public. I personally love "Kyga." They’re the cutest with their Snapchat videos and Instagram pictures.

I just really feel like the Kardashians are misunderstood people. Nothing is given to anyone, and all people have to work for what they have. So I just don’t understand why people must spend all their time talking down on other people to make themselves feel better. It’s quite sad, if you ask me. Especially from women. We should spend more time empowering other women. This world would be a lot better if we spent more time supporting each other.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
