If you go to school out of state and you’re from New Jersey, good luck. Our rep is overwhelmed by visions of fist pumping and leopard printed mini-skirts. You’ll be asked if you’ve ever seen any of the Jersey Shore cast, or if people there are as trashy as they’re portrayed. Take these offensive statements and laugh at them, mostly because these people will never experience the amazingness of the Jersey shore.
From the commercial Seaside area, with plenty of bars and clubs, to the residential areas of Long Beach Island, the Jersey shore has quite some variety. Whatever you’re looking for, you can find it. The boardwalks of Seaside and Ocean City provide us with games and activities, stores, and a diverse group of people. The beaches are clean, some more than others, and easy to lose track of time on. You can certainly end up relaxing on the beach until six o’clock, losing track of your responsibilities and prior commitments. And most importantly, if you’ve never been to the jersey shore, you’re missing out.
Why else would the rock legend Bruce Springsteen sing about a Jersey girl, or how he’s going to take her “across the river to the Jersey side”, if it wasn’t worth the hype? I truly believe that the feeling while driving over the bridge to LBI is like no other; euphoric, peaceful, and promising of a good day. With your windows down and your favorite song blasting, it’s impossible not to be thankful for the Jersey shore.
I’m thankful for the amazing people the Jersey shore houses, I’ve made some great friends because of it. I’m grateful for the incredible food I’m blessed with every time I’m there. And I’m appreciative to have grown up a Jersey girl, despite the bias out-of-stater’s have. The Jersey shore will forever be a part of me, wherever my life takes me.
