The Interview | The Odyssey Online

Recently this past week, I had the opportunity to be interviewed by a large corporation that I have wanted to work for the last couple years. I feel like I should not put their name on this article, just because I don't know how that would effect me in the process; it is a large technology and advertisement based company, here in Omaha, Nebraska.

I was prepared. I was dressed nice. And I knew exactly the points I wanted to say and get across. I forgot to mention at the beginning, that this was for an internship, not a real live job. However, this internship entails 40 hour weeks during the summer; that's a lot for a summer internship, I believe. Nonetheless, I digress.

The woman I have been communicated with the last couple weeks comes out the lobby and takes me back to the interview room. However, shortly before walking into the room she stopped me and forewarned me that this is was a panel interview, not just a one on one interview. I was prepared, yet extremely nervous when she said that. I smiled and told her that it would be completely fine. Then I walk into the room and there were 7 people sitting around a large table looking at me. I suddenly got much more nervous than I previously was.

Yet I continued on and believe I stayed calm, cool, and collective.

The interview continued and didn't have any misfortunate events happen, which is always a great positive. I will hopeful hear back from this company in the weeks to come and start working there this Summer. Wish me luck!

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
