If you’re anything like me, you create multiple playlists for different events or holidays. It sets the mood for whatever occasion is happening. Whether you’ve got a partner or are flying solo this valentine’s day, feel the love with music!

1. Sucre: “Persuasion”

This is one of the sweetest love songs. Sucré’s Stacy Dupree-King has a voice that makes it sound like an affectionate lullaby.

2. Wild Child: “Darling Divine”

A delicate, folkish love song of a sort of unrequited love.

3. Hozier: “Like Real People Do”

This song is definitely made for a Valentine’s playlist. Both the lyrics and style give off the essence of love.

4. Vampire Weekend: “Everlasting Arms”

Although ‘Everlasting Arms’ is presumably a reference to protection from God, who says it can’t be taken as a sort of love song?

5. Børns: “Electric Love”

An upbeat jam about love’s powerful electricity.

6. Saint Motel: “Cold Cold Man”

This song was made for dancing. Saint Motel gives love in this song by repeating “you’re the only one worth seeing, the only place worth being, the only bed worth sleeping’s the one right next to you.”

7. In the Valley Below: “Lover”

A statement of truth in love; In the Valley Below sings “I won’t be the kind of lover who takes your hand and holds another, I won’t be the kind of lover who takes your hand and holds you under.”

8. Brandon Flowers: “Still Want You”

No matter what occurs in this world, good or bad, Brandon Flowers will still want his love.

9. Father John Misty: “True Affection”

Father John Misty, you have our hearts. He wants a true conversation without “all these strange devices.”

10. Coast Modern: “Guru”

Coast Modern loves their “guru” and the distance will never come between their love.

11. Fitz & the Tantrums: “Out of My League”

A lighthearted ode to their lover who is “more than just a dream.”

12. Judah & the Lion: “Take It All Back”

A folk pop song, Judah & the Lion would “take it all back just to have [their love].”

13. Passion Pit: “Where the Sky Hangs”

Passion Pit is caught up in the heartstrings of his love; he has feelings of love run deep.

14. The Avett Brothers: “I and Love and You”

This is a beautiful song, and it’s not the typical love song; the narrator has trouble in saying those three words.

15. Lord Huron: “Fool for Love”

A soft song, Lord Huron proves that they would do anything for their love.

16. The Paper Kites: “Bloom”

A charming, calming song about The Paper Kites’ love; their love is their world, and they just want to be close to their love.

17. The Black Keys: “Howlin’ For You”

The Black Keys aren’t hiding anything; they are professing their attraction and love for someone.

18. Haim: “Honey & I”

Haim doesn’t need to think about any past lovers; they are perfectly happy with their honey.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
