The Importance Of The Small Details In Life

Do you ever just stare at your ceiling and wonder whether things would be better if you could redo it one more time?

The Importance Of The Small Details In Life
bin binnnn

Your alarm starts playing "I don't love you" by Urban Zakapa as you slowly roll off your bed. Clunk! "Good morning to you too, World," you proclaim loudly in your dorm room as though someone could hear you. It is seven a.m, and your exam starts in one hour. Somehow, as you slowly open your eyes, the white paint on the ceiling catches your attention.

Imagine, a white canvas that you can paint your life over again. You hold the magical paintbrush to your life. There are many things you could redo and bypass in life. You could avoid taking that one professor in Physics and save your GPA a few points.

You might have taken a shortcut to get to that one class faster, the one with that stickler professor for attendance. Or even better, get a clutch parking spot in the lower lot of the Wintergreen Parking Lot. You could have gone to the gym a bit more and lost those extra pounds you have been talking about for ages.

Maybe, you would have dressed up a bit more for that boy in your freshman seminar class that caught your eye and ended up landing that date before classes officially ended for the fall semester. There are a lot of things that you could have changed. Things that could have saved you plenty of embarrassment and possibly the evil glares from your professor as you ran into your psychology lecture thirty minutes late because of the bus you got stuck behind in traffic.

But, there is something about those tiny, minuscule details that make life interesting. As frustrating as it can be, you somewhat enjoy those thrilling runs through campus as you almost make it to class. You could save tons of money on not purchasing large cups of coffee every other day if you managed your time better. You might have avoided that awful blind date with that business major from another college. However, you would not change a single detail.

Each experience is a life lesson on its own. Without it, life is boring. These imperfections are strangely entertaining. So, a perfect world, in your opinion, should not exist. As silly as human beings can be to strive for the ideal life, they lack the realization that a perfect world is monotonous and tedious. Imagine, never having to worry about those small details.

These struggles in life only allow us to push ourselves further. It makes us want to improve in life. You, for one, are for making mistakes. It helps you learn and keeps you on your feet.

"Isn't that right, World?", you exclaim loudly, as the room becomes encompassed by the echo of your voice. Zzz. Zzz. Your phone starts to vibrate. It is your reminder that class starts in five minutes. "Ugh," you groan as you quickly get up and grab your backpack, "Time to run." And now, you are off on another adventure. Life is amusing when things are harder than normal.

You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
