The Importance Of Positive People

"Surround yourself with people who make you happy. People who make you laugh, who help you when you're in need. People who genuinely care. They are the ones worth keeping in your life. Everyone else is just passing through." - Karl Marx

You can tell from the title of this article what the topic will be: the importance of positive people. I think that often people overlook or are annoyed by positive people. People often roll their eyes at someone if they seem a little too happy. It's so wrong. Why do people hate on what brings someone else joy? If it's not hurting anybody, let them do it! Someone walking down the street singing may annoy you, but let them sing anyway! Someone may be dancing a little different than you, but let them dance anyway! Someone might have a different opinion on a topic, but let them say it anyway! We are human beings and we have the right to (within reason) do what we choose! Don't criticize someone for doing something that makes them happy! We're only here on this earth for a blink of an eye, so we must enjoy it and let others enjoy it as well!

Do what makes you happy. Don't let others weigh you down or make you feel bad for what you enjoy doing. We are all individuals on different paths and the key to a happy life is letting every person enjoy their own path. We will always encounter negative people on the journey. Don't get mad at them, just accept that they have not learned that positivity is a prize. Don't let them become a ruler in your life, you do not have the space or energy for that.

If you are one of the negative people of the world, I'm here to tell you to quit it. We need positive people in our world today. The world can be a very dark, lonely, scary place. Anyone who shines a light to make the world brighter has every right to do so. Realize when your opinion is needed and when it's not. If someone is enjoying themselves while not harming others, it's more than likely that your opinion is irrelevant. Stop trying to make people feel bad about themselves! It's unnecessary. If making people feel like crap about themselves makes you feel better, you seriously need to check your priorities. If someone is passionate and they begin to talk too loudly, just let them express themselves. Passionate people are so important! If you feel like someone's laugh is too much, who cares? They're laughing! Let them enjoy themselves.

While we're enjoying this beautiful earth, let's make it enjoyable for others too. Positivity is a domino effect. Also, don't think that positive people don't know about all of the crappy sh*t that goes on in the world. We do. We just choose to not let it rule our thoughts and our everyday lives. We choose not to ignore the bad, but to highlight the good. No one wants someone who is constantly negative around them. The media shoves negativity at us constantly. We don't need to shove it at each other. Live and let live.

Also, don't settle for people who don't appreciate and love exactly who you are. Hang out with people who celebrate that you are in their life. You deserve it. If someone makes you feel discouraged about who you are, don't welcome them into your life. All that anyone owes another human being is respect. If you don't enjoy someone's company and they bring you down, don't go out of your way to be around that person. You do not need people in your life who tear down your spirit. You have every right to laugh, dance, sing, and talk in exactly the way that you want to.

Take time to notice how, when you're walking around, everyone is looking down at their phones. People are actually afraid of eye contact because it might be awkward. Awkward times are funny! We all have them. What happened to eye contact and just smiling at someone? You never know what a simple gesture can do. We've all had those terrible days where just a little smile would've cheered us up. Let's be that hope for others. Positivity is like a boomerang, if you give it, then it'll come right back to you.

Positivity could rule the world if we let it.

Girl With Bleached Hair
Tumblr

I've been a bleach blonde for over a year now, and let me tell you, it is a lifestyle. More hair appointments, longer showers, and special shampoo. But it is totally worth it!

1. Mentally preparing yourself to convince your hair dresser that white is the way to go.

2. Or the anxiety of what could go wrong by bleaching your hair at home.

3. You could either become a ginger

4. Or a pixie

5. The face you make in the mirror when you take off your towel to unveil the perfect white strands.

6. Taking a million selfies the day you bleached it, because you know your roots will be back in literally 2 days.

7. Having to get bangs or a big chop because your hair is so damaged.

8. Having orange highlights in between touch-ups.

9. Going out for a drink afterwards to debut your updated look.

Despite the struggles, you love your platinum blonde hair! You make sure Instagram knows it, too. You don't need a filter, because the color is flawless by itself!

Finals: just thinking about them gives you anxiety. Only two weeks separate you from summer, but they're the longest of the semester. There's a familiarity to this season, now that you have had so many testing cycles under your belt. But that doesn't quell the ever present stress to pass your finals and your classes. Even better, as a package deal during these wonderful weeks, you get to wake up early to study and you get to take exams that can begin anytime from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. Now that we have established that this week is not fun, here are some super relatable moments that punctuate finals week.

I've been at this college thing for almost three and a half years, and while I thought that high school was truly the lowest point of my existence, I'm beginning to realize that it was a walk in the park. Like, I miss the days when the biggest white lie I told my parents was my made up excuse about being late for fourth period. These days, the white lies are a tad more complex, and as ashamed as I am to admit it, I've definitely told a few of these.

NBC Universal

As most of us already know, Friends is one of the greatest television series ever produced. The cast is genius. The humor never gets old. The episodes are relatable and timeless.

I can easily say that I have watched each season at least three times and I belly laugh harder every time. All Friends fans can agree that there are certain lines that form a bond between us and when heard one cannot help but laugh.
