I got my first pet when I was nine years old. I clearly remember my excitement of having a new best friend that will forever be mine. There is a lot of responsibility that comes along with having a pet. While it may be hard work that consists of constant ups and downs, the truth is that it is all worth it. Pets give our lives a meaning and fill a void that no other person could.
Dogs are the loyal friends that will never betray you even if you do. They will see you for all the good in you and never the bad. They will be there to cheer you up when you’re sad and they will also be there to accompany you through the good times. Cats are the pets that will not show their love very often but when they do, it’s very obvious. They are the ones who will curl up next to you in your bed when you decide to stay in for the weekend. Though their presence is silent their love is very much there. These are only two examples of the exceptional animals all over that we share our world with.
Pets allow you to be responsible for someone other than yourself. They bring you to appreciate the innocence in the world. For some of us they may be the reason why we wake up in morning (maybe even if just because we have to take them out). They fill our lives with happiness and laughter. They bring a clear view to what truly is important in life. Not to forget these loving creatures are known to help cope with and solve many illnesses. Whether it’s anxiety, depression or even high blood pressure, it has been scientifically proven that pets help with coping with these illnesses. If you’re a cat, dog person or whatever type of pet person you are, there is no denying that without pets our lives wouldn’t be as good.
