Welcome to Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary.
Located just east of Nashville, Tennessee, OFSDS is a Forever Foster home whose mission is to provide senior dogs with a loving home and all the care they need as they live out the rest of their lives.
Not only is this benefitting the dogs, but it is a source of joy for thousands of people worldwide. Their Facebook page has over one million likes and posts from their blog on Tumblr garner thousands of likes and reblogs daily.
When was the last time you saw a genuinely nice comment on the Internet? Take a look through the comments on OFSDS photos and you will be blown away by the precious words people offer at the sight of these sweet dogs.
Some of the dogs under the sanctuary’s care get adopted by loving families, which is always the goal. There is an album on their Facebook page which lists all of the dogs who are looking to find Forever Families. However, others find their place within the group. There are several cliques at OFSDS, but don’t worry, they’re all the best of friends.
Here’s the Road Crew.
The Calmer Gang.
And the Lookout Gang.
There are, of course, fan favorites at OFSDS. Leo, the handsome mix of Chow Chow, Siberian Husky and much more has stolen hearts with his big bushy mane and adorable smile.
Gertrude, who was hypothyroid upon her arrival at the sanctuary, meaning she lost hair and gained weight easily. With the help of the lovely OFSDS caregivers, she lost a lot of weight and her energy levels spiked. She’s now in great shape and doing well!
Captain Ron has a certain place in my heart. This grizzled old fella has only one eye but double the personality. He may look like a tough guy, but he’s really a big softie.
Also, to combat the ridiculousness of the 2016 presidential election, OFSDS’s own Mildred will be running for office with Captain Ron, her pick for VP.
Finally, some candidates we can get behind.
I highly suggest following the antics of these lovely pups. Also, if you are willing and able to donate to the Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary and support these sweet animals, I encourage that, too. It’s all going towards the most noble of causes: helping dogs be happy.
Leo doesn't care that Captain Ron is tired from his work on the campaign trail, he just wants him to get out of his way!
