In college, friendships are bound to happen and sometimes those friendships can honestly develop into the most unexpected moments that make amazing memories. Needless to say, the title of this article actually has a real funny story of its own that defines the true meaning of friendship.
During my freshman year of college, two of my now close friends were joking around with me about how much I despised chicken salad. To mess with me even more, they opened two packets of chicken salad and started eating it right in front of me despite knowing how much I hate the smell. I decided to take one of those packets and start my own war against chicken salad by throwing it at them!
We chased each other up and down the dorm halls smelling like chicken until I realized that I had lost my favorite pair of earrings. I started to get really upset and was totally freaking out, but my friends assured me that we would definitely find them.
About 25 minutes later, one my friends finally found them in the elevator. I was so happy, I just instantly gave her a hug. My friends then told me that no matter what happens they will always be there, have my back, and never leave my side even if it's just about a pair of earrings.
It was right then and there, that I knew we would be friends for the next four years.
Stories like the one I just shared, are the kinds of stories and memories all college students and people can relate to within their lives. These kinds of stories and memories are also the ones, we as college students especially, want to make, because as soon as freshmen year is over, it's almost time to get ready for graduation.
Friendship also really becomes a vital part of life during college because not only are we finding out who we ultimately are, but we're also discovering who's going to be with us on this journey of life.
There's also going to be those times that friendships come and go which is sadly another part of life. Not everyone has the same intentions, or heart as you, so it's okay if you lose that best friend or group of friends from freshmen year. We all change and move on so remember that with life comes new people, places, hopes, and dreams that are worthwhile and deserving.
Remember to appreciate the friends that are still in your life, not too many true friends are able to be found nowadays. Never stop believing in yourself or feel unworthy just because of a bad friendship breakup.
Stay strong, beautiful, and confident so that these feelings of empowerment can be rubbed off on to people that not only walk in but also out of your life as well. Do not give up on finding close friends, they are out there, trust me. Just look carefully and be cautious.
Remain true to yourself and others will remain true to you. Most of all, when in doubt, just think of chicken salad and it'll help remind you of how important loving friendships are in life.
What's a college experience without a sea of friendships anyway? In the end, it'll all be worth it when you realize just how special you and your friends' friendship is, as you all managed to stick together on the ship of friendship.
