Kindness is a trait that should be second nature. Unfortunately, there are people in the world who sometimes forget how important being kind is. Recently, I watched a video of rapper 50 Cent mocking a janitor in an airport. He followed the young man and recorded him, practically shoving his cell phone in his face asking what type of drugs he was on. Later, after he put the video on social media, it was reported that this boy has autism and definitely was not on any type of drugs the rapper was insinuating he was. After I watched the video, I was amazed at how rude and unkind people could be. Everyone is human and has feelings that should always be taken into account.
Being kind doesn't have to be a grand gesture. It's as simple as holding the door for someone or paying for their morning coffee. Being kind can truly change people's days or even lives. When you're kind, you're taking the focus away from doing things for yourself and doing things for other people. Something that may seem like a simple act for you may mean the world for someone else.
Being kind is also as simple as just being nice. If you think something that you say is going to offend someone or hurt their feelings, you probably shouldn't say it. Being kind is caring for others and doing things to make them want to be kind to others too.
It's up to us individually to spread kindness in the world. When you're kind to other people, other people will want to be kind back. Sure, maybe that's not always the case, but the majority of the time, if you treat people how you would like to be treated, the outcome will be positive.
