The Hypocrisy Of Trump Supporters

Why are you silent now? Be ready. Be ready for a fight.

The Hypocrisy Of Trump Supporters
The New Yorker

Dear Trump supporters,

I do not believe that every single one of you is racist, sexist, homophobic, a liar, a hypocrite, a bigot, etc. I do believe, however, that every single of you is okay with racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. When you voted for Trump, you supported these ideals and decided they were not deal breakers for the President of the strongest nation in the world.

You cried about the liberal media's bias, but kept spreading fake news from conservative media sites and other Trump supporters.

You cried foul when you talked about Benghazi and Hillary Clinton's emails, but you ignored all the fraud lawsuits that Trump has faced and lost in the past. You have nothing to say now that Trump had to pay out a $25 million settlement over Trump University - a price even he agreed was a fraction of the true value of the settlement. You have nothing to say about Trump's business ties to Russia that have been revealed. You have nothing to say about Mike Pence's current legal battle to keep some of his emails hidden. You cried foul about the role of the Clinton Foundation if Clinton became President. But, you have nothing to say about Trump wanting security clearance for his children on the most sensitive data and material in the free world. You keep saying that Trump is a successful businessman and he should run the country like a business - He owes over $500 million to Goldman Sachs and the Bank of CHINA. Even after becoming President-Elect, he met with business clients, despite promising to keep his business and the Presidency separate. He is trying to get foreign diplomats to stay at his DC hotel. Why are you not worried about potential corruption now, like you were with Clinton and the Clinton Foundation, which does actual charity, unlike Trump's charity? Why are you not worried about us failing as a country under his leadership like he has failed as a businessman? Why don't you care about corruption and emails now?

You cried about not feeling safe in this country, about not feeling safe on liberal college campuses. I'm sorry that it's too hard for you to change your "Trump That Bitch" shirt out for something else. But, this is America, and everyone has a right to their opinion, so I truly feel bad that you feel unable to express your opinion. Since you care about freedom of speech so much, why do you have nothing to say about people all over the country being physically attacked due to the color of their skin and their opinions against Trump? Pictures of black people being lynched, women in hijabs being threatened to be set on fire, junior high children being told they will be deported, etc. - does this not scare you? Or, are you not scared because it does not affect you in any way?

You cried about people needing safe spaces to talk about the Election with each other. Women, who feared losing all of their reproductive rights. Gay people, who feared losing their right to love and marry. Trans-people, who feared losing the little they have managed to gain. A middle-school boy went up to a young girl and grabbed her vagina all while saying, "If my President can do it, why can't I?" Do you not sense the fear that people have this country about their rights - their basic human rights - being taken away? These people needed each other, but they always went out into the real world and faced criticism from you and were willing to engage in a conversation about politics and social issues with you. But, these past few months, you refused these conversations. They did not matter to you. You were willing to push past all the dangerous and divisive things President-Elect Trump said, and you expected everyone else to do the same. And, now, President-Elect Trump is saying that the cast of Hamilton should apologize to Mike Pence for suggesting open conversation and inclusion in America - because the theatre is supposed to be a "safe space." Ironic, isn't it? Apparently, freedom of speech doesn't count if we insult him. No one saw you saying anything about this when Obama faced years of abuse.

You cried and cried over the past couple of years with wanting to protect freedom of speech. I agree, freedom of speech is what makes our country so important. So, why are you not concerned with the press not having any freedom of speech? Why are you mad about people saying things against Trump and Pence and their policies? Why are you not mad about the Cabinet picks he has done thus far - white nationalists who have openly published racist and sexist things, racists with years of proof of their racism, etc. Or, does freedom of speech only apply to you?

As Americans, we must respect the office of the Presidency. As such, we do. However, that does not mean we have to respect the person who is elected to be in that position. For years, so many of you spent time saying, "President Obama is not my President; I refuse to accept him." So, why do you all of sudden expect us to embrace Trump as our President in a week? Why do you expect us to come together as a country right away when his entire campaign was based on dividing people?

Don't fuck with me with that hypocrisy all over your lips. The President exists to serve the people of this country, and the people of this country will NOT stay silent if he continues to make decisions like the ones he has already made within a matter of a few days.

Oh, and, by the way, the people of this country did not elect Trump (he is on track to be the biggest popular vote loser in this country for Presidential races); the system did. Be ready. Every single day, we will fight as he and his crew keep making choices that prove every single time that he does not understand the different groups in the country at all. We will fight because we love the United States of America and what it stands for.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
