Our superheroes have grown and become big names from Iron Man to Thor. Every superhero, who has a movie or is a supporting character, is known in the superhero universe. One age-old question within that universe involves the Incredible Hulk. This character's transformation has been an interesting one, to say nonetheless. We will be looking back and comparing the different Hulks.
Edward Norton did a decent job of portraying the Hulk. This character isn't the easiest to play and does involve a lot of work. He definitely tried, but the storyline and character development didn't play in his favor. The timing of when the movie was released is also a playing a factor. This movie came out before the Marvel universe actually became a phenomenon. That didn't allow the studio and surrounding storylines to further his development. This movie was not a part of the growing universe but rather just another superhero movie. Norton did put in his own hard work to try and make the character and movie work but in the end, it wasn't enough. He was able to push through but his emotions and actions did not line up with the rest of the storyline. The movie's villain, overall arching message, and it's doomed future made it the movie that would have been forgotten.
Mark Ruffalo had a lot more background and information to work with. His hulk character was able to fit into the storyline and even allow for more advancements. His storyline was able to expand way more than Norton's character. This character had a studio, storyline, and technological advancement s that allowed for a better outcome. Even so, Ruffalo's acting and portrayal of the Hulk was something extraordinary and entertaining. He put in a lot of work and made it his own. We seem him with emotions, internal fights and truly needed help in his life. He truly understood who he was playing. He understood the struggles and past the overtook the Hulk. The story was a fit into the Marvel Universe and it allowed for a further development down the road.
In the end, Ruffalo's Hulk had a lot more work done for him and had a spot in the storyline. Norton did have possible potential and did allow the Hulk a good story but was just short of possibly missing his big movie. It was just a movie made too early. We are now and really have forever been waiting for the solo Hulk movie. The audience has been begging and wishing for years. Now that there is a huge universe with many characters and superheroes getting solo movies, the time is hopefully near. It feels like there might be something at the tip of our fingertips. Maybe, just maybe the studios will listen to us. Still, there should be a solo Ruffalo Hulk movie. People have been waiting. Let's just do it already.
