To some, the Holiday season may all be about the ham and turkey, but 7.3 million people stay clear of the traditional Holiday meals. So you may ask "Why the heck would someone get rid of meat especially during the times when it's most popular?"
I personally stopped just due to the fact that it's healthier and I am against the animal cruelty that goes into slaughter houses. But that's not what we're here to talk about, it's more about what we eat instead.
For me, I just skip the turkey entirely because I'm not a huge tofu person, but some do so that's definitely an option.
Oh the dressing, by far my most favorite Thanksgiving food. I could honestly eat this year round. To take out any meat or meat products, all you do is not add sausage and simply add vegetable broth instead of chicken broth. Then you just prepare it the same way you would usually make your famous dressing. Just remember: don't use it in the bird or put it in similar containers!
Really, the Holidays are all about the many many sides. That's all I eat along with a few veggies (hey that's what I eat most of the year; I deserve to eat some of the same things that everyone else does). But all it takes is not adding bacon to your greens or beans. Or taking out some marshmallows in your fruit salad to replace it with vegetarian (or vegan depending on what you find) marshmallows, or I've found adding cottage cheese it yummy too.
There are so many more options out there if you just open your mind to how other people live or eat in their lives. Remember to respect those around you during your Holiday feasts!
P.S. Please stop asking if we want any meat or meat products. It's not because we don't want to eat your food, it's our personal choice. Trust me, it smells delicious enough.
